Southwestern Healthcare is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our Information Technology team. In this key role, you will lead the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our network infrastructure, helping ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing technology that supports quality care across our organizations.
This position requires occasional travel to Southwestern Healthcare and affiliated entity locations throughout the local and regional service area to install, maintain, and support network equipment. Candidates must have reliable transportation and be able to travel as needed to support multiple sites.

What You'll Do
- Install, configure, maintain, and support all physical networking and virtual infrastructure components, including but not limited to switches, routers, wireless access points, wireless bridges, security cameras, and firewalls.
- Design, optimize, and support enterprise VoIP and UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) platforms, ensuring proper Quality of Service (QoS) configurations across the WAN.
- Install, terminate, and troubleshoot ethernet, fiber, and phone cabling and maintaining the integrity of all network closets.
- Review network infrastructure logs for performance, security, or operational concerns, take appropriate action, and report issues to management quickly and concisely through means of formal and informal communication channels.
- Integrate MDM solutions with network access control (NAC) policies and enterprise wireless authentication protocols.
- Research and recommend new networking technologies to increase efficiency of operations, improve security, decrease costs, or develop new business opportunities.
- Implement, maintain, and optimize security of all networking infrastructure.
- Manage network infrastructure projects, including but not limited to creating project plans, schedules, risk assessment, and cost analysis.
- Work with end users and management as needed to resolve network related issues or problems that affect the integrity of operations.
- Manage Disaster Recovery networking solutions, including monitoring and recurring evaluations for networking improvements.
- Create and maintain professional documentation of infrastructure, including but not limited to LAN\WAN diagrams, data flow diagrams, password management, audit reports, training documents, and SOPs.
- Utilize scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) or automation tools to streamline network deployment, configuration management, and repetitive tasks.
- Design and enforce Zero Trust network architectures, micro-segmentation, and Network Access Control (NAC) policies to safeguard sensitive corporate and clinical data environments.
- Proactively monitor network capacity trends, perform lifecycle management for hardware/software, and manage relationships and service level agreements (SLAs) with internet service providers (ISPs) and hardware vendors.
- Respond to urgent technology issues outside of standard office hours.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related technical field required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing complex, multi-site enterprise network environments, including network architecture and design.
- Current CCNA certification required; CCNP certification preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure, including switches, routers, wireless access points (WAPs), and firewalls.
- Experience creating and maintaining network documentation, diagrams, and data traffic flow documentation.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting Ethernet and voice cabling.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to Southwestern Healthcare and affiliated entity locations as needed.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, including attics and crawl spaces, and to safely lift and install network equipment as required.
