About ANELLO Photonics:

ANELLO Photonics http://www.anellophotonics.com is a leading-edge technology company based in Santa Clara, CA. The company has developed integrated photonic system-on-chip technology for next generation navigation.  ANELLO's SIPHOG™ gyroscope is based on its patented photonic integrated circuit technology. The result is a product that is higher performance, much smaller size and weight, at a fraction of the cost of traditional gyros used in industrial, aerospace and military applications. It enables reliable and accurate navigation and positioning across many autonomous applications. ANELLO is currently engaged in commercial trials with various market-leading customers in the Construction, Farming, Trucking, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Autonomous Vehicles, and National Security segments.

Job Summary:

The Senior Navigation Engineer develops and implements navigation algorithms for ANELLO systems that may be utilized on a variety of vehicle types, including ground, air and marine. The position leads navigation projects from requirements and software architecture to algorithms design, implementation, tuning and validation.  ANELLO is creating navigation systems that will address the need for robust solutions in GNSS-challenged and GNSS-denied environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Craft the vision and roadmap for ANELLO navigation products
  • Collaborate in highly multi-functional environment and work closely with systems, sensor, control, software, simulations, and business-related team members
  • Participate in navigation tasks including system trade studies, component modeling of inertial measurement units (IMU), global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), camera, radar, LiDAR as well as simulation of navigation algorithms
  • Define requirements for vehicle sensors and state estimation software including sensors selection, voting, monitoring, fault detection, and sensor fusion
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and integrate complex hardware/software systems
  • Contribute to architecture concepts, concept of operations, and technology trade studies
  • Analyze, source, and select sensor solutions for use in the navigation system
  • Give technical presentations and provide technical support to ANELLO team members

Experience:

  • BS (MS or Phd preferred) in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or other related fields
  • 10+ years experience in sensor signal processing and sensor fusion algorithms (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Proficiency in C a must. C++ and Python preferred
  • Experience with GNSS aided inertial navigation system and performance analysis of navigation systems and navigation state error estimation with knowledge of optimal state estimation filters such as Kalman Filter and Extended Kalman filter (EKF)
  • Deep understanding of classical and modern navigation methodologies
  • GNSS aided inertial navigation sensor fusion algorithm development specific to at least one vehicle environment: automotive, heavy equipment, aircraft, or marine
  • Proven track record of navigation/localization systems development
  • Solid understanding of state estimation techniques: state observers, Kalman filter, nonlinear state estimation
  • Exceptional organizational, presentation, and communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in modern software development workflows and practices, including version control, build and test systems, and peer review
  • Experience developing algorithms which fuse many sensor modalities is a plus
