About TruckSmarter

Logistics is one of the single largest industries in the world. Globally, logistics is an $8-$12 trillion dollar industry and in the US alone, ~$2 trillion, representing ~10% of GDP. A single percent of improvement drives profound change to every corner of the world—from the cost of our goods, to the livelihoods of local communities, to even the impact on our environment. To reshape the industry, at TruckSmarter, our focus is first on truck drivers. Trucks move 71% of freight in America (~$800bn annually) & the trucking industry represents nearly 6% of the full-time jobs in the country. If you look around you, every item has sat on a truck at one point on its journey to you. However, despite the industry being one of the greatest levers of innovation throughout history, it is still deeply fragmented & structurally misaligned. Our mission is to fix that—and we need your help.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced mobile engineer to help us transform TruckSmarter’s new vision into a reality for all the freight industry. In this role, you’ll:

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance mobile applications for iOS and/or Android platforms using React Native.

  • Provide guidance on mobile app best practices, coding standards, and new technologies.

  • Review code and offer constructive feedback to peers to ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to align on requirements and deliver solutions.

  • Design frontend deployment pipelines balancing velocity and reliability to help frontend engineers build excellent product experiences for our users.

  • Make crucial architectural decisions that will impact feature development for years to come.

What Excites You
  • Owning large surface area within our product & see things go from 0 to 1.

  • Comfort in ambiguous situations. You'll be responsible for scaffolding out new web services and deciding on what tools and frameworks we will use moving forward.

  • Working across the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization through production.

  • A collaborative startup where you have full autonomy over your work and can make direct impact on users.

  • Solving problems with pragmatic yet sophisticated solutions—you know how to strive for simplicity without compromising the more complex use cases.

  • Comfortable working directly with designers across product and brand.

  • Work cross-functionally with the team to shape the product from strategy, definition to execution, validation, and future iterations.

What Excites Us
  • 5+ years of experience building frontend applications that are used by a significant number of users.

  • Proficiency with technologies such as React Native/Flutter, React, and Next.js.

  • Experience with mobile design patterns (MVC, MVP, MVVM, VIPER), modern architecture, and best practices.

  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the capability to drive cross-functional requirements with business, product, operations and engineering teams.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

What Success Looks Like
  • Craft: Build experiences that delight end users.

  • Ownership: Advocate for projects and solutions that you believe in and see them through to production.

  • Innovation: Build product experiences using new technologies and unique user insights.

  • Leadership: Level up your teammates by providing mentorship and guidance.

We Offer

  • Health, Dental & Vision Plans

  • Competitive Pay

  • 401k

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Lunch + dinner daily

  • Commuter benefits

Working model: TruckSmarter offers an in-office collaborative culture. This role is based out of our downtown San Francisco office 5 days/week.
