Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native)

Tarteel was founded with one mission: to strengthen the relationship Muslims have with the Quran. Inspired by the Islamic Golden Age, we saw untapped potential in the area of religious technology. We built Tarteel to help Muslims improve their Quranic study using the best digital tools. The Quran is a journey, and Tarteel is your companion.

In this role, you will help design, build, and maintain our mobile application. Our mobile app is primarily built with React Native, including some native modules. We’ve also integrated Kotlin Multiplatform for certain performance-critical tasks. Because we build most features in Tarteel to work offline, the kind of challenges you will get to solve will push the limits of your skillset and expose you to challenges you haven’t previously encountered. • Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications using React, React Native, Kotlin, and SQL

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features

• Complete medium to large features (each with many tasks) independently without guidance

• Execute on pixel-perfect responsive designs and animations with a high degree of polish and an eye for detail

• Strong alignment towards creating functional and delightful user experiences for the intended audience

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices

• Proactively identify and drive changes as needed across all product areas

• Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues

• Participate in code and design reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and product quality

• Provide strategic insight and technical guidance on how to architect our code base to support our user base as we scale product features

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

• 5+ years of experience in mobile or full-stack development

• 1+ years of experience in React Native development

• Proficiency in JavaScript, with relevant experience using React and React Native

• Experience with native (iOS, Android) code development using Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java is a plus

• Experience with SQL and Kotlin Multiplatform is a plus

• Strong understanding of mobile and web application architecture, design patterns, and best practices

• Solid knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Git)

• Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools and processes

• Experience with feature flagging and A/B testing

• Experience with development and maintenance of products serving 1M+ users

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment

• Availability for meetings from Monday to Thursday between 8am and 12pm Eastern

Our interview process for this role consists of three stages:

1. 60-minute technical screener, including a live coding problem

2. 60-minute technical interview diving into more depth than the screener and also including a live coding problem

3. 60-minute culture fit interview focused on situational scenarios and personal perspectives
