Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for a well-qualified Mechanical Engineer, having extensive experience with engineering drawings, to join our Quality Team for an exciting opportunity in support of the development, readiness and sustainment of the USAF Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system. You will play a key role in ensuring that new engineering drawings and engineering (change) orders (EO) meet all government and drafting standards and are processed in a timely manner, as required by the USAF in support of the existing Minuteman III weapon system.

You will be the technical lead for the BAE QC drawing review team by providing technical support, training, problem resolution, government coordination, and process improvement to increase quality and to decrease review time. You will work to improve the organization's efficiency and value add by reducing waste and promoting continuous improvement. Specific responsibilities and competencies include, but not limited to:
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to the BAE QC drawing/EO review team.
- Provide leadership in maintaining and improving quality and cycle time of the review process.
- Become the subject matter expert on government and industry drafting standards and practices.
- Review Engineering drawings and changes.
- Provide training and feedback to the Engineers who prepare drawing/EO projects.
- Improve initial quality of drawing/EO projects.
- Provide training and support to QC reviewers.
- Promote a culture and inspire the organization to adopt a quality mindset and challenge teams to be critical, disciplined, and continually strive for excellence.
- Lead others in the review, analysis, and reporting of quality discrepancies and data related to the QC review.
- Report on key performance measures and leading indicators.
- Coordinate with government drawing checkers on problem resolutions, including different interpretation of industry and government standards.
- Lead investigations into identified problems and opportunities for improvement and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ yrs. of related engineering experience (5+ yrs. with Master's degree). At least 3yrs progressive responsibility in providing technical leadership.
- Strong background in creating or reviewing engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100, Engineering Drawing Practices, ASME Y14.5, Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and all the Y14-series.
- Experience with Configuration Management and drawing changes.
- Great cross-functional communication and interaction.
- Leadership & coaching junior quality associates.
- Project management.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Metric implementation, management, and reporting.
- Proficient with Microsoft office tools - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Proficient with Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- LEAN/Six Sigma Training.
- Experience with government engineering drawings, drawing changes, and technical orders.
- Experience working with CAD systems, such as NX, Solidworks, CATIA, or AutoCAD.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $89280 - $151740
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
