Responsibilities
Take a new aircraft from concept to series production. You work in a small team with electronics designers and test engineers. You get direct feedback from prototypes, flight tests and production builds.
Design and iterate lightweight parts. You design, build and test parts and assemblies, then improve them until they are ready for production.
Choose materials and processes with care. You balance performance, volumes, unit cost, tooling investment and lead times.
Own DFX. You design for manufacturing, assembly, quality, cost and serviceability, and you settle tolerances, interfaces and process constraints early.
Work hand in hand with suppliers. You partner with sourcing on technical feasibility, tooling and part iterations.
Own qualification. You qualify parts with the intended production materials and processes, and you agree product-specific acceptance criteria with the test engineers.
Deliver the production-ready product file. CAD, 2D drawings, tolerances, BOMs, material and process specifications and acceptance criteria.
Hand over a running line. Once the qualification gates have passed and ramp-up is complete, you hand the line and the product file to Production and Production Engineering.
Requirements
You have several years of experience taking mechanical products through the full lifecycle: prototype, series production and quality monitoring at the customer. Ideally on structurally critical products at volumes of hundreds to a few thousand units.
You are strong in CAD (Solidworks/PDM preferred), tolerance analysis and material selection.
You have practical experience with injection molding as well as additive manufacturing for functional plastic parts.
You prototype fast and pragmatically, then qualify and document with discipline.
You like hands-on work: builds, testing and working with suppliers.
You use AI for design exploration, qualification planning and data analysis. You check its output, share new workflows and keep raising the team’s bar.
You are curious, flexible and collaborative, with a real drive to build the next great thing.

What We Do
Wingtra is the world's leading VTOL drone producer, headquartered in Switzerland. Since its market entry in early 2017, Wingtra has partnered with more than 80 of the biggest surveying equipment dealers across 50+ countries worldwide. Based in the heart of Zurich, Switzerland, Wingtra houses 100+ employees, out of which more than 40 focus on R&D. The majority of Wingtra's engineers are graduates of one of the best science universities in the world, ETH Zurich. The same engineers design and assemble drones in-house and form Wingtra's support team, which is based in Europe and the Americas. Our WingtraOne drone carries best-in-class sensors that collect survey-grade aerial data. This technologically-superior VTOL UAV is used by mapping professionals for applications that range from surveying and mining, to wildlife monitoring. WingtraOne PPK offers an all-in-one solution: broad coverage, brilliant resolution and absolute accuracy down to 1 cm (0.4 in)
