Seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with FEA Experience
Turn analysis into better hardware. Simplexity is seeking a hands-on Senior Mechanical Engineer to help advance cutting-edge robotics designs, embedded with our team at a client’s site in Bellevue, WA. In this full-time, on-site role, you’ll use finite element analysis (FEA) to guide design decisions and take improvements from modeling through testing and release-quality documentation.
This is an opportunity to connect simulation with real-world engineering: explain the tradeoffs behind your recommendations, diagnose hardware failures, and optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, assembly, and reliability. You’ll work directly with client stakeholders, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Perform simulation and analyses, including structural & thermal FEA, translating modeling results into clear design recommendations and tradeoffs
  • Provide DFx feedback to inform designs
  • Use previous experience working with motors and actuators
  • Define tests, investigate failures, identify root causes, and rapidly iterate toward working hardware
  • Present design tradeoffs, technical risks, engineering decisions, and project progress directly to client stakeholders
  • Apply structured quality and problem-solving methods to improve manufacturing performance and reduce field and safety risks
  • Work with suppliers and contract manufacturing partners to implement design recommendations
  • Create and maintain part and assembly drawings, with particular attention to aspects that are critical to function
  • Adapt to evolving client priorities while delivering on engineering goals throughout a long-term engagement

REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE
  • An ownership mindset: identify the work needed, manage your priorities, and hold yourself accountable for delivering against a fast-paced schedule
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Bellevue, WA at Simplexity’s client’s site
  • Minimum of 2 years of finite element analysis (FEA) experience
  • 8+ years of applicable engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Proficiency with FEA software; ANSYS is highly preferred
  • Proficiency with a mechanical CAD package; SolidWorks is highly preferred
  • A positive, client-focused approach and a commitment to ethical conduct

EXPERIENCE THAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT
The following experience is a plus, not a requirement:
  • Experience using SolidWorks PDM to manage CAD files
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and high-volume production methods, including injection molding, casting, sheet metal, and machining
  • Experience with and understanding of actuators, gear trains, and transmissions
  • Strong skills in tolerance analysis and design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA)
  • Hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis experience
  • Experience navigating technical discussions with clients or demanding external stakeholders while remaining a hands-on individual contributor
  • Experience performing torque-speed, duty-cycle, inertia, efficiency, life, force, energy, vibration, or thermal analyses

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Base salary range: $140K - $160K, depending on years of experience and skill sets
  • Excellent Healthcare plan (Medical, Dental, and Vision) fully paid for by the company for the employee; partial payment for dependents
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Long-term and short-term disability, AD&D and Life Insurance
  • Paid maternity/new parent leave
  • 11 Paid holidays
  • 3 weeks of paid time off (PTO) per year, increasing after 2, 5, and 9 years of service

1099 contractors who have their own registered consulting/contracting business will also be considered:
  • Hourly rate $100 - $125/hr, depending on experience
  • No benefits, holidays, or paid time off (PTO) included
