About the company
Our client is a robotics company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take ownership of the mechanical side of hardware subsystems, guiding them from early ideas to manufacturing-ready products. Partner closely with outside manufacturers and cross-disciplinary engineers in a small, hands-on team.
What you'll do
- Lead the complete mechanical design lifecycle for assigned subsystems, from defining requirements through to releasing designs for manufacturing.
- Build prototypes and prepare detailed 3D models and drawings that suit volume production.
- Plan designs with manufacturability and ease of assembly in mind, and work alongside external factories to scale from lab builds to larger runs.
- Coordinate with colleagues in electronics, embedded software and motion control so mechanical and electrical parts fit together well.
- Handle supplier relationships and sourcing for hardware parts.
- Plan and carry out validation tests, investigate why failures happen and make sure fixes are completed.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience bringing physical products from concept into production.
- At least one product you have taken all the way to a real production release, beyond prototyping.
- Track record of qualifying vendors, checking early production samples and supporting a manufacturing ramp-up.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline; electrical engineering backgrounds are also considered.
- Advanced skill in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks.
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, design for manufacturing and assembly, and tolerance analysis.
- Comfort taking full ownership of subsystems and working hands-on in a small team.
- Ability to work on-site five days a week.
Bonus points
- Prior robotics exposure is helpful but not required; experience with other complex electromechanical products is valued.
- Experience designing motion-transmission components such as gear drives.
Benefits
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 180,000 to 250,000 per year
- Equity
Location and work model
