IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Philadelphia, PA, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex mechanical projects. This role leads design efforts with limited support required from senior staff for larger, high-complexity projects.
You will support project management, engineering analysis, design, implementation oversight, project budgets, training and mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration for vertical building projects. The team supports education and cultural-institution work, with HVAC as a focus, while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
Technical Path
- Lead analysis and design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards.
- Perform site assessments and prepare detailed analysis and technical reports.
- Gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships.
- Review system designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence, applying IMEG quality control processes.
- Provide technical training and mentoring and assist with resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff.
- Stay current with mechanical engineering trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, contributing to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
- Prioritize safety and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions and participate in project interviews and presentations.

- Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.
- Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work, fee calculations for proposals, and contract reviews.
- Create project schedules with milestone targets and deadlines.
- Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients.
- Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentages.
- Ensure designs meet owner, IMEG, and code requirements, and that quality control processes, milestone deliverables, and construction technical support are completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate design staff and project scheduling throughout design and construction, and schedule and lead progress meetings with documentation.
- Conduct construction site visits, respond to client and construction concerns, and manage change orders and approvals.
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff while building, maintaining, and developing client relationships.
