Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a minimum 10 years of experience, who wants to work and grow as a team player within our progressive multi-discipline firm. Ideal applicants will be well versed in all aspects of mechanical design and project management. The desired individual should be comfortable consulting to owners and general contractors and have a desire to work as part of a multi-discipline engineering team.

The mission of this role is to expand this 14 person mechanical group’s capabilities into healthcare, education, data centers, and other target markets. This engineer will serve as a technical leader, bringing expertise in complex project design and execution while mentoring the team for long-term growth. They will help us build the next generation of mechanical engineering leadership at Coffman, ensuring the team is well positioned to handle increasing diverse and sophisticated projects while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and innovation.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Approximate Base Salary – 130k-180k based on experience and qualifications
  • Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
  • Competitive end of year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance
  • Hybrid Work Schedule (subject to change)
  • 401k with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical engineering or related field.
  • PE license in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Revit and AutoCAD experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with HVAC and plumbing system design for buildings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare, education, multi-family, and/or data center projects a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of California building codes and California AHJs.
  • Project Management experience and/or certifications.
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be a self-starter who is able to see the big picture and connect the vision of the company with his/her job, be persistent, and follow through in a consistent manner.
  • Passionate about the client or pursuit and takes ownership of his/her work.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe InDesign software preferred. Must understand database concepts. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
  • General knowledge of firm’s practice, clientele, goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and procedures and basic marketing principles.
  • Able to work independently, as a team member, and as a team leader.
  • Strong organizational ability; detail oriented; high degree of accuracy.
  • Must work well under pressure.
  • Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer license in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 10 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
