Drives the overall software development lifecycle including working across functional teams to transform requirements into features, managing development teams and processes, and conducting software testing and maintenance. Specific project areas of focus includes translating user requirements into technical specifications, writing code and managing the preparation of design specifications. Supports system design, provides advice on security requirements and debugs business systems and service applications. Applies deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures and programming languages to develop high quality technology applications and services - including tools, standards, and relevant software platforms based on business requirements.

Technology Leadership

  • Lead the architecture, development, modernization, and lifecycle management of enterprise technology platforms.
  • Drive the technology strategy, roadmap, and execution plans aligned to business priorities.
  • Establish and promote best practices for application architecture, software engineering, security, resiliency, and operational excellence.
  • Provide technical direction and coaching to development teams, architects, business analysts, and delivery partners.

Solution Design & Development

  • Design and deliver scalable, maintainable, and secure technology solutions that meet business and regulatory needs.
  • Oversee the development of microservices, APIs, and integration components that support enterprise capabilities.
  • Ensure high availability, resiliency, scalability, and performance for mission-critical applications.

Enterprise Integration

  • Lead integration efforts across the BMO technology ecosystem, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, data, and operational standards.
  • Design and support event-driven, API-based, and batch-processing solutions for complex enterprise data exchanges.

Data & Analytics

  • Lead the delivery of data-driven solutions that leverage large-scale datasets to support Wealth Management operations and decision-making.
  • Oversee optimization of SQL queries, ETL processes, reporting solutions, and data pipelines to improve performance, reliability, and transparency.
  • Support executive reporting, operational dashboards, compensation analytics, and management insights.
  • Ensure data quality, reconciliation, lineage, controls, and audit readiness across critical business processes.

Governance & Risk

  • Ensure solutions comply with Wealth Management and banking regulations, enterprise security standards, internal controls, and risk management expectations.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, control assessments, and remediation activities.
  • Implement and maintain data privacy, access management, information security, and technology risk management best practices.
  • Maintain clear documentation, traceability, change management discipline, and operational procedures.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Sales, Product, and Technology partners to deliver integrated business outcomes.
  • Translate business objectives and requirements into pragmatic, scalable, and secure technology solutions.
  • Communicate architecture decisions, delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party technology partners to ensure quality, accountability, and alignment with enterprise standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Computer Science)
  • 5+ years experience in Technology Leadership related roles, with a focus on Wealth Management domain
  • 10+ overall experience (from application developer to leadership roles)
  • Experience with new product implementations (Trading, security lending, incentive management applications) from design and architecture perspective all the way to delivery (full lifecycle or end-to-end)
  • Experience in AWS cloud stack, development, technology integration, technology delivery, Microservices, API, AI integrations.
  • Experience integrating vendor solutions with enterprise applications
  • Equally motivated to play an Individual Contributor role and people manager (if circumstances require)

Salary:

$112,200.00 - $209,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
