Blend is seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting to lead our Technical Accounting function in our next phase of growth. This is a high-profile position that will play a critical role in addressing a wide variety of complex technical accounting matters. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders throughout the Company to ensure the successful execution of key initiatives within the Finance organization.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Lead technical accounting research and provide technical accounting guidance for complex and emerging accounting issues (e.g., consolidations, investments, internally developed software, revenue recognition, business combinations, leases, stock-based compensation, impairments, debt / equity instruments, earnings per share). Specific responsibilities will include:
    • Research and conclude on technical accounting matters and document conclusions in formal accounting position papers.
    • Serve as a liaison with the external auditors to ensure they concur with our accounting positions.
    • Design, implementation, and operate SOX 404 controls over assigned technical accounting areas.  
    • Stay current with FASB and SEC initiatives, tracking proposed changes and new accounting standards and determining the financial impact.
  • Be a trusted business partner and advisor to various stakeholders within Accounting, Finance, Legal, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Build technical accounting capability across the finance organization through training and scalable frameworks so routine judgments are made correctly at source.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly and year-end close process for technical accounting matters, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and SEC disclosures and support, with delegation of routine items to team members.
  • Take a leadership role in special projects and workflow process improvements, including the implementation of AI initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Active CPA
  • 10+ years of progressive experience with concentration on technical accounting; strong technical expertise in multiple facets of US GAAP and capability to conduct independent research 
  • Prior public accounting experience required, Big 4 preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)  
  • A track record of process automation, with a passion for applying AI to accounting workflows.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Final base pay offer amounts will vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to function, level, geographic location, job related knowledge, skills, and experience. Compensation:

  •  Base Salary Range: $117,000 to $137,000 (This applies to full time hires. Final offer determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to function, level, geographic location, job related knowledge, skills, and experience.)
  • Bonus: Eligibility is contingent upon both company performance against established goals and achievement of individual performance objectives.
  • Equity: Meaningful Restricted Stock Units in public company stock (NYSE: BLND) so you share in Blend’s long-term growth and success.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Active CPA license
