About the Role
Senior Manager, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING TEAM will have team of Software Project Engineers, Software Engineers supporting all customer programs in the region. The leader is expected to have excellent people management skills and should be knowledgeable with established system and software development processes and methods in connectivity and telematics domains.
Your Team
This position will have 8 – 12 direct reports at the capacity of Software Project Engineers and Software Engineer in “Alliance Excellence Team”
What You Will Do
- Central point of contact for Software related activities/deliveries, especially between customers.
- Providing guidance to the team in order to resolve software related issues and realize a stable and high performant systems
- Interact closely under constant synchronization with Harman’s teams and with SBU global teams in other geographies including Germany, Romania and India development center.
- Enables and develops the teams towards efficient work with the internal/external customers and organizations ensuring high re-usability / knowledge sharing between projects.
- Manages daily operations of team and resolves problems.
- Leads by example, motivates, and manages the teams working on different projects by objectives.
- Defines, drives, and monitors activities within the organization to achieve maximum synergies and efficiency.
- Facilitate a team communication environment that enables the Harman culture.
- Contributes to the formation of strategy and plans at department level.
- Appropriate and effective management of the departmental budget
- Has the ability to innovate (as necessary) towards using new processes and methods to improve efficiency or to react to changing project timing/requirements.
- Acts within a multicultural environment as a point of contact for all stakeholders for this team inside and outside of the SBU Connectivity organization.
- Ensure the team follows HARMAN process and procedures to deliver the products, in-time, on-quality within budget.
- Maintain a process-oriented culture within the team. Identify, track & demonstrate continuous improvement across KPIs.
- Develop-, Mentor- the team members toward their carrier aspiration and ensuring the quality, documenting and reporting
What You Need
- Bachelor in engineering (Computer Science, information systems or equivalent experience)
- Effective Experience in managing/coordinating teams and domains.
- Program Delivery Expertise
- Ability and affinity to understand technical concepts in embedded system environment.
- Effectively supervising, leading, and delegating tasks and authority
- Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics
- Knowledge of data analysis, reporting and budgeting
- Financial acumen to manage budgeting and forecasting.
- Efficiently meeting deadlines, schedules, and target dates
- Good English/Japanese communication skills both written and verbal
- Good understanding of System and SW development process standards (ASPICE preferred) and state-of-the-art agile engineering methods (SAFe preferred)
