The Senior Manager of R&D, Electronics coordinates department activities, either directly or through subordinates, to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures. Manages and directs specialized engineers working on programs to meet organizational needs and to capitalize on new products.

Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects. Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products. Understand the development and releasing of software for medical applications. Have a strong grasp on electronics design, having developed or managed the development of systems from concept through commercialization.

Have a strong grasp of good design principles and a passion for instilling them in the team. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Management:

  • Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.

  • Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to management.

  • Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards.

  • Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.

  • Minimizes the exposure and risk on project.

  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

  • Tracks and reports team hours and project expenses.

Communication:

  • Facilitates team and business meetings effectively.

  • Holds regular status meetings with project team.

  • Keeps project team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news.

  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.

  • Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.

  • Resolves and/or escalates issues as appropriate.

  • Understands how to facilitate communicate difficult/sensitive information.

Leadership:

  • Challenges others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.

  • Inspires coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.

  • Conducts effective performance evaluations and encourages personal development.

  • Helps team execute career development plans.

  •  Seeks and participates in development opportunities above and beyond company required training.

Technical Leadership:

  • Successfully drives complex system development.

  • Leads multi-disciplined engineers identifying and solving complex issues.

  • Understands and drives team to develop products for global distribution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • 10 years product development experience with at least 5 years in medical device development.

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplined product development activities.

  • Strong understanding of medical device development, including safety, usability and international regulations.

  • Ability to foster a strong working relationship with both internal and external customers

  • Proven track record of developing and launching successful products

  • Ability to work cross-functionally across the organization
