Senior Quality Assurance Automation Manager
Ensure the quality behind the systems that move the food supply.
Who We Are:
United States Cold Storage owns and operates one of the most complex temperature-controlled logistics networks in North America. Every day, our systems coordinate the storage and movement of food at national scale across a network of state-of-the-art distribution centers, including multiple highly automated warehouse facilities.
We continue to advance our core warehouse and logistics platforms. Our current focus is on modular, event-driven, API-first and cloud architectures. We continue to enhance reliability and accelerate engineering productivity by strengthening our SRE and AI practices. This is a large investment in innovation to continue to drive operational excellence at our facilities.
If you want to build durable systems that operate in the physical world at scale, this is that opportunity.
The Role:
The Senior Quality Assurance Automation Manager will lead and grow an existing QA team while building a cross-functional quality program spanning software development, data analytics, and customer technology. You will define and implement a modern testing strategy from the ground up — establishing standardized practices with quality gates across all three domains. Through close partnership with development, data, and customer technology leads, you will ensure every system we ship is validated through automated functional, integration, load, performance, and contract tests. You will own quality outcomes across the organization and drive the transformation of how US Cold Storage thinks about and delivers software quality.
What You Will Own:
- Build and lead a high-performing QA organization of managers, architects, and automation engineers.
- Coach teams to treat quality as a shared engineering responsibility.
- Define and implement a unified quality engineering strategy across development, data engineering, and customer technology teams.
- Establish automation-first standards that scale with distributed systems.
- Embed quality gates into CI/CD pipelines across multiple platforms.
- Ensure test suites are performant, maintainable, and aligned with architecture.
- Build a metric-driven program tracking coverage, defect escape rates, performance benchmarks, and release quality.
- Establish OKRs and hold teams accountable to measurable improvements.
- Communicate risks, tradeoffs, and resource needs clearly to leadership.
Technical Environment:
- 130+ engineers across software, data, and customer technology teams.
- 20+ QA engineers across multiple disciplines.
- Java monoliths and microservices; Azure data factory and Snowflake; EDI.
- CI/CD-driven releases.
- Real-time streaming pipelines sourcing disparate systems.
- Mission-critical production systems supporting daily operations.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of automated software quality assurance experience.
- 5+ years of QA management experience.
- Demonstrated success building metric-driven QA programs with measurable improvements in reliability and release quality.
- Strong understanding of test pyramids spanning unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience embedding quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience building automated test systems for distributed APIs, EDI integrations, event-driven architectures, and data pipelines.
- Experience building and leading QA teams across multiple disciplines and skill levels.
- Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, quality risks, and program outcomes to audiences ranging from engineers to executives.
- Ability to represent your team's work, priorities, and resource needs across the organization.
Preferred Experience:
- QA automation platforms such as QA Wolf, Tricentis, Lambda Test or Equivalent.
- Testing ETL/ELT and streaming data transformations.
- EDI validation and trading partner compliance testing.
- Azure or Snowflake cloud delivery environments.
- Logistics, warehousing, or supply chain systems.
Why This Role is Different:
In this role you will:
- Build and lead a dedicated QA organization while influencing quality across teams you don't directly own.
- Define what quality means across distributed microservices, B2B/EDI integrations, and real-time streaming data — then build the program to prove it.
- Shape architecture through quality standards, not just validate what others build.
- Own quality in mission-critical systems where reliability, data integrity, performance, and operational resilience are non-negotiable.
This role is for someone who believes quality must be engineered in — and wants to build a durable quality program inside a technology organization that operates critical infrastructure.
Compensation & Structure:
- Salary Range: $160,000.00 - $190,000.00/yr.
- Bonus Eligible
- Location: Hybrid, Camden, NJ
- Travel: less than 10%

What We Do
For more than 125 years, United States Cold Storage (USCS) has protected America’s food supply through a national network of 39 world‑class, temperature‑controlled facilities across 14 states. Today, that mission is driven as much by software as it is by steel and concrete. Behind every truck, pallet, and movement is a modern, in‑house engineering organization building the mission‑critical systems that run our warehouses. Our teams develop and operate the technology that tracks inventory in real time, optimizes labor and throughput, integrates automation and robotics, and connects seamlessly with our partners’ supply chains. We work across multiple clouds and databases, leverage modern data platforms like Snowflake, and solve complex computer science problems—from optimization to routing at scale. With more than 4,300 employees and a 200+ person IT organization operating like a modern product and engineering group, USCS offers the rare combination of stability, scale, and complex technical challenges. We do whatever it takes to help our partners profitably reach their goals—whether that’s primary cold storage or fully integrated third‑party logistics—because when the temperature matters, getting it right matters even more. Our facilities are located in: California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.
Why Work With Us
USCS is a family built on trust, teamwork, and pride. From freezer floors to engineering, everyone helps build the next generation of cold storage with practical tech that makes operations safer and smarter—because here, you don’t just keep food moving—you build how it moves next.
