Job DescriptionYour Role:
This role will serve as the technical accounting expert for our Private Markets business, specifically several SEC registered Real Estate Investment Trusts managed by Invesco Ltd. As the point person for technical accounting and audit issues, this individual will quickly gain broad exposure to the operations of our Private Markets business and interact with leaders in Private Markets finance, accounting, and investment teams, as well as with external and internal auditors to support the establishment of a technical accounting center of excellence.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Partnering with Fund Controllers: Collaborate on the accounting for complex transactions, including financial instruments, financing transactions, consolidations, and derivatives/hedging.
Leading New Business Initiatives: Drive the accounting team’s involvement in new business initiatives, ensuring proactive engagement with stakeholders.
Implementing New Accounting Standards: Lead the implementation of new accounting standards, maintaining open lines of communication with relevant teams.
Assessing Disclosure Risks: Identify emerging disclosure risks and implement appropriate responses, keeping stakeholders informed.
Reviewing Financial Statements: Enhance reporting and disclosure practices by reviewing quarterly financial statements and other publicly reported financial information (including 10-Qs and 10-Ks).
Providing Peer Analysis: Offer Private Markets stakeholders peer analysis of current industry trends and topics, fostering informed decision-making.
Supporting Audits: Assist controller teams during audits, stepping in proactively when required.
The Experience You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, CPA required
Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a concentration in technical accounting.
Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm, public company, or private real estate manager, preferably in an accounting firm national office or a technical accounting advisory group.
Strong investment products and systems experience, specifically in private markets or real estate. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision, driving progress independently while maintaining proactive communication with stakeholders.
