Business Bank Line 2 Operational Risk team is responsible for ensuring business activities, processes and our products are appropriately managing existing and emerging risks. We do this by providing advice, monitoring, and independent oversight of business activities.

In delivering these services, our key aim is to support Business Bank and the Group to achieve its strategic objectives, including operating within the BB Risk Appetite.

Reporting into the Executive Manager - Line 2 Operational Risk for Business Bank, your primary focus will be ensuring our Business Bank’s products’ operational risks are appropriately managed. You will be the trusted advisor, be an effective second layer of assurance and you will be supporting & enhancing the risk/reward culture across Business Bank.

You will work closely with the Business (including Line 1 Risk Management) and other Risk functions (Compliance, Group Operational Risk, Operational Risk, Technology Risk, Credit Risk, and Financial Crime), which also support the business.

For your product portfolio, you will:

  • Identify areas of risk concerns and/or where greater transparency is required and conduct deep dive reviews and prepare reports suitable for an Executive General Manager audience; 
  • Undertake critical ‘review and challenge’ through active and ongoing oversight over our change initiatives, including performing assurance activities;
  • Provide advice in relation to the business’ risk profile, emerging risks, and better practice risk management, with a particular focus on conduct risk, model risk, transaction processing risk, technology risk and supplier risk;
  • Design, develop and deploy safely AI agents that automate risk workflows and transform complex data into trusted, accessible and actionable insights, which strengthen risk management. Active participant in the AI Risk and Policy Community of Practice.
  • Work cohesively across teams delivering positive customer outcomes, in line with CBA’s values (care, commitment, and courage).

Your skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated commercial experience in financial services or related environment, with experience/exposure to Business or Consumer Lending portfolios and/or product management (including product development, product decommissioning, and/or remediation).
  • Technical skills and knowledge base in managing non-financial operational risks (and in Operational Risk Frameworks) with practical application.
  • Experience in building AI agents and using AI tools/data analytics to enhance and streamline risk management.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing demands and strong teamwork focus.
  • Excellent report writing skills
