About the Role
As the Senior Manager, Labor Relations, you will oversee all aspects of the Employee Relations (ER) function within India. You will be responsible for executing the company’s labor and employee relations strategy, providing support to Human Resources (HR) and leadership teams on workplace contract administration, grievances, and compliance with local labor laws. You will play a key role in ensuring a positive workplace culture, while ensuring adherence to regulations and company policies. This position requires a deep understanding of local labor laws, contract negotiations, and employee relations practices. This position will report to the Sr Director/ Director Employee Relations COE.

What You Will Do
Employee Relations

Develop the employee relation strategy for the country, aligned with the corporate ER COE guidelines.

Support HR and people managers in the implementation and execution of the company’s labor relations strategy.

Provide regular coaching and counseling to HR and people managers in labor relations areas such as contract administration, discipline, and grievance processes.

Develop and update training tools and conduct training sessions for HR and people managers in labor and employee relations area.

Advise site leadership on all aspects of contract administration, including grievance resolution and disciplinary processes.

Partner with HR and leadership to engage in continuous improvement in communication practices and channels.

Analyze and revise people programs, policies, and practices to promote positive employee relations and ensure regulatory compliance.

Recommend systematic solutions to employee relations issues, focusing on maintaining a professional and safe work environment.

Participate in cross-functional projects to provide expertise on employee relations matters and collaborate with other departments to drive improvements in labor relations.
Investigations

Lead and conduct timely, objective, and thorough investigations into employee complaints, including harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, and other violations of company policies.

Train HR on effective investigation techniques to support workplace investigations.

Collaborate with legal, HR, and senior leadership to define investigation strategies and ensure confidentiality throughout the investigation process.

Document all aspects of investigations, including interviews, evidence collection, and findings. Make informed recommendations on appropriate resolutions, including disciplinary actions or policy changes.

Lead complex employment-related investigations for the business, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.

Influence the acceptance of corrective or disciplinary actions by consulting with key stakeholders, such as legal and HR teams.
Regulatory Compliance

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Indian labor laws, as well as state and federal regulations related to employment.

Monitor and assess company policies for compliance with local regulations, proposing adjustments as needed to align with state and federal laws.

Maintain records in accordance with local regulations and data privacy policies.

Conduct audits of company documents and processes to validate compliance with labor laws and regulatory requirements.

Support internal and external audits, including those by clients and labor authorities.

Handle employee grievances related to social security matters (PF) and collaborate with Rewards and Procurement to ensure compliance with wage and employment regulations for both direct and third-party employees.

Works closely with legal team; assists in preparation and may participate in labor arbitrations, hearings, and other administrative agency proceedings as needed.

Maintains strong working knowledge of labor laws, best practices, and current trends and developments in the field.
CBA – Union Relations / Workers Council

Provide guidance and support to HR on Union and/or Workers Council negotiations and Contract Bargaining Agreements, where appropriate.

Track and maintain records of union contracts, amendments, and agreements to ensure alignment with company policies.
What You Need
-
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Law, or Business-related field.
-
Minimum of 10 years of experience in HR, mediation, investigation, or ER-related roles.
-
3+ years of experience handling internal employee investigations and managing employee conflict.
-
Strong knowledge of Indian state and federal employment laws and regulations.
-
POSH (Prevention of sexual harassment) certified.
-
Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from hourly employees to executive management and union representatives.

Skilled in negotiation, conflict management, influencing, and mediation.

Strong facilitation, coaching, and consulting skills
What is Nice to Have
-
Master's degree (preferred) in Labor/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Business, Political Science, Economics, or Juris Doctor.

Experience working in a unionized environment and familiarity with collective bargaining agreements.
-
Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing and developing teams.
-
Familiarity with conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.
What Makes You Eligible

Be willing to travel up to 30%, domestic and international travel

Be willing to work in an office in ~50% of the time in Bangalore, India.
