We’re looking for a passionate, driven Senior Manager of Data Science with strong experience in the Advertising/AdTech industry to take on some of the most interesting and impactful problems and lead some of the best scientists in the industry. 

This role will be overseeing the teams on Lyft Media and Lyft Business. You will be working on one of the most profitable and fastest growing revenue centers in our company. We are the team that brings delightful Advertising Experiences in the Lyft app and in out-of-home displays such as tablets mounted behind driver seats or on displays mounted on the top of the cars as well as serving the transportation needs of outside enterprises ranging from medical care providers to management consultancies and rental car companies.

As a trusted leader in the broader Data Science org, you will define and drive the Data Science strategy, vision, and roadmap for Lyft Media, while ensuring that the team has all the necessary tools and infrastructure to perform their work. You will also be responsible for building and executing a strategy for self-service data science and analytics experiences across the organization. 

In this role, you will be a key partner to Product, Engineering, Science, Operations leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure consistent delivery of what the organization and our partners need. You will be managing a team of data scientists and 1 DS Manager to start, with potential for additional team expansion. 

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the Advertising/AdTech industry and strong technical know-how to build at scale.  This candidate should be able to navigate complex technical topics, strategic problem solving, and team development to deliver business impact. Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists
  • Experience leading and managing teams of managers is preferred
  • Work with cross-functional partners in product, engineering, design, finance, and operations to achieve business goals
  • Prioritize and lead deep dives into our data to uncover new product and business opportunities
  • Prioritize and lead development of productized models to automate operational decision-making and drive operational productivity
  • Develop analytical frameworks, roadmaps, and metrics for the team and broader organization
  • Collaborate with other leaders and executives to build data-informed business strategy and product roadmaps
  • Serve as a champion of sound decision-making at all levels of the company

Experience:

  • Advanced Degree in a quantitative field like statistics, economics, applied math, operations research or engineering
  • 4+ years demonstrated experience leading work in the AdTech/Ads industry 
  • 3+  years demonstrated experience building scaled Advertising products and services from early stages
  • 10+ years general hands-on technical experience in a data science or equivalent ML role
  • 5+ years people management experience building and leading data science teams
  • Track record of guiding teams through unstructured technical problems to deliver business impact
  • Skilled at managing cross-functional relationships and communicating with leadership across multiple teams
  • Willingness to collaborate and communicate with others to drive cross-team and cross-organization initiatives forward

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $250,000 - $300,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
