Our mission is to improve people’s lives through innovation, by reinventing retail through robotics.
The Role

At Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics, we're building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of retail experiences. We're the team behind Alphabot®, a new technology that's changing the way America shops. Our automated pickup and delivery systems use a combination of robotics and software to efficiently handle large volumes of online orders, streamlining operations for managers and enhancing the customer experience. We're passionate about robotics, retail, and creating solutions that impact millions of customers daily.

We're searching for a Senior Manager for Configuration Management to oversee the diverse responsibilities of the configuration management team for an organization that develops, manufactures, and supports automated material handling systems in a retail environment.  This includes documentation control, configuration engineering, product change management planning, and product data management administration. The team establishes design standards, ensures they are upheld, and supports a diverse set of users.  Also, the team works with adjacent teams ensuring our change management practices are closed loop. Configuration Management includes:

  • Configuration Engineering: a hub in the architecture of product documentation and top-level bills of material creation and maintenance.  They apply interface rules to build a bill of material that defines the parts and documents required to meet the top-level assembly requirements.  They work with product development to define the bill of material structure, so the top-level bill of material creation process is efficient and supports the needs of product management, supply chain management, the assembly and installation processes, and the needs for customer support.
  • Document control: the product change control liaison for Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Support. They ensure all associated processes are followed and users are trained.   The team performs a variety of specialized administrative and documentation control support tasks.
  • Change planning: manages the implementation of affected items for change orders and works cross-functionally to ensure the implementation of the changes has been completed. There are weekly reporting requirements on the impact of the change for current and future builds.  Change planning leads the weekly implementation board review meeting.
  • Product data management administration: a technical, hands-on resource, responsible for the administration of PDM Tools, deployment, and upgrades, which include but are not limited to CREO, PTC Windchill, AutoCAD, and Revit. They work with Engineering, Operations, and Quality to develop PDM software solutions.

What we're looking for:

  • Experienced manager of diverse groups, including goal setting, KPI reporting, continuous improvements of department and organizational practices and policies, budget planning, and presenting to leadership.
  • Appreciation of mechanical design, electrical design, software design, and functional product safety standards for durable capital equipment.
  • Direct experience with ISO9001:2015 compliance and audits or copy exact change management practices or equivalent.
  • Understanding of maintenance of product bills of material and documentation for Configure-to-Order and Engineer-to-Order products.
  • Professional level experience with bills of material, PLM and PDM systems, item master maintenance, and document and design control practices.
  • Ability to track complex product requirements, capabilities, and intended operations and functions, with attention to detail.
  • A direct communicator with reports, peers, engineering resources, and technical leadership.
  • Ability to take direction, follow the accepted development practices to provide solutions to business process challenges, and make effective improvements primarily to people and processes (and sometimes tools).
  • Experience with an automated sales configuration system is preferred, but not required.
We offer great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet:
  • Competitive pay and performance-based bonus awards
  • Competitive 401(k) matching program, stock purchase plans, and equity opportunities
  • Comprehensive health, vision, and insurance plans with options for dependent coverage
  • Unlimited PTO for salaried employees, covering vacation, holidays, and personal days
  • Up to 12 weeks of fully paid maternity/paternity leave
  • Special Walmart discounts for in-store and online purchases
  • Complimentary daily lunches, beverages, and snacks
  • Other benefits include short-term and long-term disability, Military Leave Pay, adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, and more
