The Novelis North America Product Management team is seeking a Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy to shape and advance the region’s long-term commercial agenda and lead high-impact strategic initiatives from framing through implementation. Reporting to the Director, NNA Product Management & AMS, this role will own enterprise strategic projects such as customer segmentation, lead commercial transformation and growth strategy workstreams, and translate market and customer insight into clear strategic choices and measurable business impact. The Senior Manager will partner closely with Sales, Product Management, Commercial Excellence, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Sustainability, and global teams. This is an opportunity for a strategy leader with a management consulting, corporate strategy, or transformation background to move beyond recommendations and own execution and results.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the development of the five-year strategic plan for North America across all key market segments, and integrating customer needs, growth priorities, capabilities, and investment requirements. Work with Sales, Technical Development, Customer Solution Centers, R&D, and Global teams to identify and quantify the strategic opportunities, customers, programs, and applications that will support NNA’s growth plans.
- Lead commercial transformation initiatives that drive profitable growth, improve customer experience, simplify business processes, and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
- Lead growth strategy development, including market prioritization, go-to-market approaches, portfolio opportunities, and expansion initiatives across market segments.
- Serve as a steward of the Voice of the Customer, translating customer needs, market signals, and competitive insights into strategic priorities across Sales, Product Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Sustainability, and Innovation teams.
- Partner directly with regional and corporate leadership to shape strategic decisions, develop executive-level recommendations and business cases, and support senior leadership reviews, influencing senior stakeholders and non-direct reports to drive decisions and action.
- Lead cross-functional workstreams and program-manage strategic opportunities across functions and regions, establishing roadmaps, governance, milestones, and performance measures that convert strategy into execution and realized financial impact.
- Monitor market, customer, competitor, regulatory, and macroeconomic developments, assessing implications for Novelis North America and identifying emerging risks and growth opportunities.
- Coach and develop team members while raising the organization’s capability in structured problem-solving, strategic thinking, and executive communication. Travel approximately once per month.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, commercial strategy, transformation, or related roles within a manufacturing, industrial, or B2B environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex strategic projects with cross-functional stakeholders from initial framing through implementation and measurable impact.
- Strong structured problem-solving, analytical, and financial acumen, with the ability to develop hypotheses, integrate multiple sources of information, and translate data into clear recommendations.
- Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills, with advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and the ability to translate complex topics into clear strategic narratives.
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
- Strong program and project management capabilities, including workplan development, governance, risk management, and impact tracking.
- Experience leading, coaching, or developing others, including direct people leadership or leadership of cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree in engineering, economics, or a related field.
- Experience at a top-tier management consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Strategy&, Kearney, EY-Parthenon, LEK, Oliver Wyman, Deloitte, Accenture) or within a corporate strategy, transformation, or business excellence organization.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in strategy, commercial strategy, transformation, or commercial excellence.
- Experience leading commercial transformation, growth strategy, customer segmentation, go-to-market, or commercial operating model initiatives.
- Global or cross-regional experience working across cultures and organizational boundaries.
- Experience with Salesforce CRM, Power BI, SAP, AI-enabled tools, or other digital/commercial enablement platforms.
- Experience in metals, process manufacturing, industrial products, automotive, beverage packaging, or complex B2B environments.
