OVERVIEW
SharkNinja is seeking a visionary Principal, Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) Design to define and drive the long-term CMF strategy across our global product portfolio. In this highly influential role, you will serve as the company's CMF thought leader, establishing the creative direction, systems, and standards that guide how color, material, and finish shape the SharkNinja brand experience.
As a Principal designer, you will operate at the intersection of design vision, brand strategy, consumer insight, and manufacturing innovation, partnering closely with executive leadership, industrial design, engineering, sourcing, and marketing teams. You will champion the role of CMF as a strategic differentiator, ensuring consistency, innovation, and excellence across all product categories and touchpoints.
The ideal candidate combines deep CMF expertise with strong strategic thinking and cross-organizational influence, bringing a future-forward perspective to materials, finishes, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
The SharkNinja Design Team is a collective of Industrial Designers, UI/UX Designers, and CMF Designers working across all categories and product lines within the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and lead the enterprise CMF vision and strategy across SharkNinja's global product portfolio, ensuring a cohesive and differentiated brand experience.
Serve as the company's subject matter expert and thought leader in CMF, influencing design direction, product strategy, and brand identity.
Develop long-range CMF trend forecasting, material strategies, and color narratives that inform future product roadmaps and category innovation.
Partner with executive leadership, industrial design, engineering, sourcing, and marketing teams to embed CMF strategy into the broader product development process.
Drive the discovery and implementation of innovative materials, finishes, and sustainable solutions, collaborating closely with global manufacturing and supply chain partners.
Establish and maintain enterprise CMF standards, frameworks, and material libraries that enable scalable, consistent design execution across teams and categories.
Provide creative direction and mentorship to CMF and industrial design teams, elevating the craft, rigor, and impact of CMF design across the organization.
Guide the evaluation of prototypes, samples, and production materials to ensure fidelity to CMF intent and design excellence.
Represent CMF strategy and design direction in executive presentations, design reviews, and cross-functional forums.
Cultivate a global network of material innovators, suppliers, and technology partners, identifying emerging opportunities that advance SharkNinja's product and brand differentiation.
Champion design excellence and help position CMF as a strategic capability within SharkNinja's design organization.
ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, CMF Design, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
12+ years of experience in CMF design within consumer products, consumer electronics, or lifestyle products, with a demonstrated record of strategic design leadership.
Deep expertise in color theory, materials, finishes, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturing (DFM).
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, KeyShot, SolidWorks, and CMF visualization tools.
Proven ability to define and drive design strategy across multiple product categories and influence senior leadership.
Strong understanding of material innovation, emerging technologies, and sustainability trends within consumer products.
Exceptional storytelling, visual communication, and executive presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with global suppliers and manufacturing partners to bring innovative CMF solutions to market.
Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, mentor, and influence design teams without direct management authority.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a deep passion for craftsmanship and design excellence.
Portfolio demonstrating visionary CMF direction, material innovation, and strategic design impact required.
