About the Role:  

The Senior Manager, AME is responsible for all advanced manufacturing engineering activities for the Lifestyle Division Professional Solution. On top of running business related support, participation in lighting and signal processing product launches is key. The AME engineering team is involved in the early phases of new products development to determine capital and labor estimates and also drives design for manufacturing to ensure new products meet quality and cost targetsUnder the direction of the Senior Manager, the AME process groups will develop manufacturing plans to industrialize a new product. Industrialization includes the determination of manufacturing assembly processes required to building, planning, purchasing the JIG-s, excusing the fixture, and any other (by development defined) test equipment. 

The senior AME manager has to be the main contact between operations/plants and development.  

The position is fully responsible for all factories , including contract manufacturing-related AME activities within the Harman Lifestyle Division Professional Solution, with special definition, responsibility alignment between development and operations. 

While test concept, software development has to be executed by engineering, all operations entity has to managed for timely aligned execution of tester, JIG-s, fixtures ordering and installation. 

With software, hardware, test concept development related experience main contact for development in case of any escalation, delay.

This function has to support business with ~ 900 Mio USD yearly turnover. 

 

Your Team 

Your team will have direct report and indirect report. Indirect reports are the factory engineering managers, process definition with factories and R&D is key.  

 

What You Will Do:  

  • Manage the AME organization (direct, indirect).

  • Define roles and responsibilities within operations from AME point of view.

  • Lead AME operations process end-to-end in the entire organization of Professional Solution.

  • Be the first line contact to development.

  • Work out processes with quality about complain related improvements.

  • Build, maintain and improve continuous improvement system.

  • Provides cost estimation for equipment during new product introduction phase.

  • Develops recommendations to the Project Team for the best assembly equipment and processes to efficiently meet the capabilities as defined by the Project Management.

  • Share concepts with other involved sites to assure standardization and taking into account lessons learned.

  • Build up, work out a process to ensure new products are designed to minimize the manufacturing cost and align with process capability and taking account lessons learned.

  • Support equipment ordering, installation, start up and ramp up globally on other involved sites.

  • Support equipment-readiness based on project milestones.

  • Develop equipment for serial condition and to basis business case, supporting other manufacturing sites.

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate new processes, technologies in connection with new products to assure the most efficient industrialization to meet with basis business case.

  • Drives standardization globally with all manufacturing regions on process equipment and materials to ensure global standards.

  • Drives industrialization and manufacturing  standard for optimization projects.

  • Review readiness of operation for projects.

  • In case of development delay, find solutions with development for solution from HW point of view.

  • Manage department budgets for entire group including compensation, benefits and expense.

  • Manage manufacturing capital spending in the region.

 

What You Need:

  • BA/BSc Degree; MBA or Master’s degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in AME role manufacturing.

  • Test process definition experience is welcomed.

  • Strong analytical  skills.

  • Knowledge in SW, HW development process.

  • Very good people, communication, collaboration management.

  • Fluent English knowledge.

  • Capability, willingness to work in a worldwide , cross-functional environment.

 

Eligible for travelling:

  • Willingness to travel up to 25 % of the time.
