Your role


As a Mainframe Infrastructure Specialist, you will understand customer requirements and propose optimal technical solutions while applying your expertise in areas such as mainframe modernization, Db2, IMS, CICS, MQ, NetView, z/WAS, and z/Linux.

You will also facilitate effective handovers to stakeholders by preparing technical documentation, configuration diagrams, procedures, and review materials, assess technical and schedule risks and feasibility from the early stages of projects, and collaborate with architects, Project Managers, and engineers to support stable delivery.

• Understand the customer’s current mainframe environment, business requirements, and technical challenges

• Support proposals, design, build, testing, changes, migration, and operations for mainframe products and services

• Lead technical analysis and issue resolution in areas such as Db2, IMS, CICS, MQ, NetView, z/WAS, and z/Linux

• Create technical materials, diagrams, procedures, and review documents for handover to stakeholders

• Assess technical risk, schedule risk, and feasibility early in the project and propose mitigation actions

• Work with architects, Project Managers, and engineers to support stable delivery throughout the project

• Analyze impact during incidents or problems and drive quick recovery and permanent fixes



Who You Are

Required skills and experience


• Deep expertise and hands-on experience in mainframe-related technologies

• Experience in mainframe modernization or technologies such as Db2, IMS, CICS, MQ, NetView, z/WAS, or z/Linux

• Knowledge of LE/COBOL, mainframe hardware, and networking

• Experience with applications, infrastructure, and system operations in enterprise IT environments

• Strong problem-solving skills to analyze technical issues and define concrete actions

• Experience collaborating with multiple teams to drive engineering solutions

• Effective verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-success mindset


Preferred skills and experience


• Extensive experience in mainframe design, build, migration, operations improvement, and incident response

• Experience providing technical support and reviews across multiple mainframe products and services

• Knowledge and experience creating technical plans, blueprints, configuration models, and operating procedures

• Ability to compare alternatives logically and select the best approach

• Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail

• Experience in process improvement, standardization, and automation

Skills Required

  • Deep expertise within specific technology domain areas (software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)

  • Experience in mainframe system construction or operations (approximately 5+ years)
  • Ability to manage schedules using WBS
  • Business-level Japanese proficiency
  • In-depth knowledge of Amazon cloud hosting architecture; AWS and Azure experience a bonus
  • Familiarity with a variety of IT concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans and models
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
