The Senior Legal Counsel plays a key role in driving the legal clearance and risk management framework across the company’s real estate portfolio.

The position combines hands-on legal expertise with ownership of key processes, ensuring the effective prioritization and resolution of complex legal matters, while aligning execution with business objectives and timelines.

While primarily focused on oversight and coordination, the role directly contributes to legal work where complexity, urgency or business criticality require senior involvement.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the Legal Due Diligence & Onboarding function, setting the strategic direction, priorities and operating framework to ensure the effective legal onboarding, clearance and maturation of real estate assets across the portfolio.

  • Work closely with the Property, Technical & Legal Services Executive and other senior management members to support the successful management of the company’s real estate portfolio.

  • Oversee the end-to-end legal onboarding lifecycle of newly acquired assets, ensuring the timely collection, assessment, registration and management of all required legal documentation.

  • Monitor and coordinate legal due diligence assignments performed by external lawyers, ensuring quality, consistency and timely completion.

  • Supervise the management and resolution of legal findings arising from due diligence reports, including encumbrances, title defects, cadastral discrepancies, corporate name changes and other legal irregularities affecting real estate assets.

  • Oversee and coordinate legal actions related to evictions, escrow arrangements, lease terminations, property occupations and other property recovery procedures and, where required, actively support the preparation, review and execution of the related legal documentation and proceedings.

  • Monitor, coordinate and, where required, actively support the handling of litigation matters, court filings, injunctions, objections, lawsuits and other legal proceedings affecting managed portfolios, ensuring timely resolution and effective risk management.

  • Ensure the accurate maintenance and updating of customer and property databases, as well as the proper registration of legal documentation within company systems.

  • Define team deliverables, monitor KPIs and SLAs and ensure the effective management of workflows across all assigned portfolios.

  • Develop regular and ad-hoc management reports, providing insights on portfolio legal clearance status, operational performance and risk exposure.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and drive initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, quality and service delivery.

  • Assist the team in resolving complex legal and operational issues

  • Participate in strategic and operational projects by providing subject matter expertise, business input and testing support for new systems and processes.

  • Contribute to budget planning and monitoring, including cost control initiatives related to external legal partners and legal due diligence activities.

  • Be responsible for the team’s performance management, workload allocation, coaching and development.

Job Requirements

  • Law Degree (LL.B.) required.

  • Registered Lawyer with the Athens Bar Association.

  • 7+ years of experience in Real Estate Law, Legal Due Diligence, Property Legal Clearance or NPL/REO portfolio management.

  • Previous experience in coordinating legal teams and/or external legal partners.

  • Strong knowledge of Greek property law, land registry procedures and real estate transactions.

  • Excellent command of Greek and English.

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management and analytical skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to prepare, analyze and present legal, operational and management reports to senior stakeholders.
