As a Capital One Lead Software Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.As a Sr. UI Engineer for the Developer Platform you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing user interfaces, Plugin contributions that provide an exceptional user experience. Leveraging cutting-edge open source technologies like Backstage, you will be responsible for creating visually appealing and highly functional interfaces that meet the needs of our users. What You'll Do:

• Work with a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems
• Perform software development on Front End Applications leveraging a test-driven development pattern
• Own the technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems
• Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends and best practices in UI/UX design and development, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to understand project requirements and translate them into user-friendly UI designs
• Utilize programming languages like JavaScript (React), TypeScript and Java, open source frameworks (Express), RESTful web services, and work on cross-browser and cross-device development
• Implement responsive and interactive user interfaces using Lit Html and JavaScript frameworks such as React, Express, and Lit Element
• Work closely with the design team to create pixel-perfect UI designs that align with the overall brand and design guidelines
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the quality and performance of the UI across various browsers and devices
• Implement and customize Backstage plugins to enhance the developer experience and streamline workflows

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)
• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree
• 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: React, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Node
• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
• 1+ years of people management experience
• 3+ years of UI/UX design principles and tools
• 1+ years of experience with Backstage
