Role Summary

Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend applications and services while delivering new product features and enhancements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle, contribute to technical design and code quality, and ensure reliable, scalable, and well-tested solutions through Agile engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services using Java and related technologies
  • Write clean, maintainable, testable, and efficient Java code following OOP principles and coding standards
  • Solve complex technical problems and contribute to technical design discussions
  • Apply software design patterns and engineering best practices
  • Perform code reviews and contribute to overall code quality and maintainability
  • Design and implement automated tests including unit, integration, and system tests
  • Develop and maintain REST APIs and backend services
  • Design and work with relational and non-relational databases, including data modeling and query optimization
  • Use Maven and related build tools for dependency management, packaging, and application lifecycle management
  • Integrate software changes into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Jenkinsfile
  • Use Python and Bash for development tooling and automation tasks where appropriate
  • Deploy, debug, and troubleshoot applications in Linux environments
  • Work with Git version control systems (BitBucket, GitHub, GitLab)
  • Analyze and resolve software defects and production issues
  • Manage application configuration using YAML, JSON, Maven, and configuration files

  • Cooperate on definition of user stories and specification of acceptance criteria
  • Participate in support and sustaining activities
  • Collaborate with QA engineers, architects, product owners, and other development teams
  • Actively participate in Agile processes and SCRUM ceremonies
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and design specifications
  • Seek continuous improvement of own skills, technical competencies, and engineering practices
  • Accept additional responsibility and contribute to team and product success

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Commercial experience with Java development
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns
  • Experience with REST APIs and backend service development
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL; knowledge of NoSQL databases is an advantage
  • Experience with automated testing, including unit and integration testing
  • Experience with Maven and Git version control systems
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins
  • Basic scripting skills in Python and/or Bash
  • Experience working in Linux environments
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and spoken English
