Senior Java Developer

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful as a Senior Java Developer - AVP, you should have:

• Experience designing and developing Java applications using microservices
• Proficiency in Spring Framework, Kafka, SQL, and MongoDB
• Understanding of microservices architecture, software design patterns, and enterprise integration patterns
• Proven experience with GraphQL, REST API development, and test-driven and continuous integration way of software development process using GitLab or an equivalent tool
• Experience working with container-based infrastructure, including Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Practical knowledge of Scrum and DevOps pipelines
• Familiarity with the Elastic Stack
• Good communication and collaboration skills
• Commitment to high standards for security, resilience, architecture, and code quality
• Exposure to working with GenAI coding assistants such as GitLab Duo

This role is based in our Whippany, New Jersey office.

Minimum Salary: $120,000

Maximum Salary: $175,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
