Senior Java Developer - IBM Sterling OMS & Sterling Intelligent Promising (SIP)

WE’RE LOOKING FOR A JAVA DEVELOPER TO JOIN OUR TEAM!

We are seeking an experienced Java Engineer with strong expertise in IBM Sterling Order Management System (OMS) and Sterling Intelligent Promising (SIP) to join our crew! The role combines backend development and product extension work, enabling intelligent fulfilment, sourcing optimisation, and seamless integration across order channels.

You will partner with functional configuration experts and business teams to translate complex fulfilment logic into scalable, maintainable Java components — supporting both Sterling OMS core flows and the SIP decision engine.

Note: Depending on the project and our clients' needs, you may get the chance to pack your bags and take off every now and then. Typically, we estimate travel time to be between 0% and 15%.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Being involved in all areas of delivery, with the technical gravitas to mentor and inspire the development team, helping your team improve by sharing your own knowledge, experience, and insights;
• Taking ownership of your code every step of the way - from development to deployment and maintenance;
• Diagnosing issues in production and devising solutions for them;
• Being an integral part of solutions design and implementation;
• Designing, developing, and maintaining custom Java components that extend IBM Sterling OMS and SIP functionality;
• Integrating OMS and SIP with external systems and data sources via APIs, queues, and event-driven interfaces & troubleshooting performance, integration and workflow issues within Sterling OMS and SIP environments;
• Challenging business requirements, to ensure you are continuously delivering the best possible outcome;
• Harnessing innovation and driving adoption of new technologies to deliver business value;
• Contributing to shaping our online technology roadmap, influencing our future technical direction, and balancing passion with precision to deliver exceptional online service and solutions for our customers;
• Conducting technical interviews for positions within your area of expertise.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

*The tech stack you will work with depends on the project;

• Minimum 7 years of experience with Java programming language, including latest versions (17 & 21);
• Sterling OMS — deep understanding of architecture, workflows, data models, and extensibility points;
• Sterling Intelligent Promising (SIP) — working knowledge of configuration, sourcing logic, and integration with OMS;
• Experience with SIP features such as real-time inventory availability, promise logic, and capacity constraints;
• Familiarity with API-based orchestration between OMS, SIP, and external fulfilment or inventory systems;
• Experience in any of the popular web frameworks like Spring (boot, cloud, data flow) or Micronaut;
• Knowledge of architectural styles: Microservices, Web services, SOA and API Protocols: GraphQL Federation, REST API;
• Experience in monitoring & observability: OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, other Observability tools;
• Proficiency in using build tools: Gradle;
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven development;
• Cloud technology experience: Azure Cloud, Terraform, Kubernetes, Github Actions;
• Experience in working with databases: MongoDB, MySQL;
• Experience working with Application Lifecycle Management Tools: JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, NexusPro (or) similar;
• Working practices: Knowledge and experience of agile frameworks and practices: Scrum/Kanban, user stories, BDD/TDD, DevOps, Continuous Integration & Delivery, Pair Programming etc;
• Proficiency in applying design patterns effectively to develop scalable and maintainable solutions;
• Fluency in English;
