Senior IT Specialist

The Opportunity:

Premier International is hiring an experienced Senior IT Specialist to join our growing team in Hyderabad, India.  

In this role you’ll report to the US-based Director of IT.  You will be responsible for collaborating with our team to extend our existing IT policies to our workforce in India and to establish procedures for the handling of laptops, support, and AWS virtual server management.  Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the management of virtual and physical IT infrastructure in Hyderabad as well as support for both on-site and remote staff across India. 

The ideal candidate for this role will be a sharp technical person with 5+ years of IT work experience, who has strong organizational and problem-solving skills, has a broad interest in IT, and enjoys working with people.  This individual must have both strong technical abilities and the desire and ability to mentor junior staff members.

• Manage the IT needs of our growing operations in India
• Collaborate with US-based IT team to extend our existing IT program to our colleagues in India to improve information security and maximize employee productivity
• Manage and coordinate efforts of a small IT team that is likely to grow as Premier expands its operations
• Coach and mentor junior IT team members to grow their capabilities and improve Premier’s support structure
• Implement and manage AWS security and cost management controls
• Provide timely software and hardware support for employees who may be local or remote (this will primarily include Windows laptops)
• Oversee Windows laptop setup, maintenance, distribution, and disposal in India
• Ensure compliance with company security standards
• Work with Dell and/or other providers to obtain service under warranties
• Support of local physical network infrastructure
• Track computer/license assignment/maintenance/status in inventory
• Learn to support custom software developed in-house
• Become proficient in supporting installation, configuration, and updates to Alation, BigID, and Informatica
• Learn and adopt adjacent technologies to become increasingly proficient to add value to Premier
• Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

• 5+ years of IT work experience
• Strong understanding of commodity PC Hardware – memory, hard drives, CPUs, etc
• Strong understanding of the Windows and Linux operating systems
• Competence in Microsoft PowerShell
• Experience with AWS security features and the ability to implement them as needed
• Experience with AWS cost control features and the ability to manage costs
• Basic networking experience (including switches, basic firewalls, and network services like DHCP and DNS)
• Exemplary technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills (operating systems, driers, hardware, software, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong work ethic and sense of ownership
• Ability to quickly assess a situation, determine the risks, and choose the best course of action
• A positive attitude
• A passion for technology, both inside and outside the workplace
• BE and relevant IT experience
