About the Team

The RiskOne system is a mission-critical platform supporting TD Securities Market Risk management and intraday risk monitoring activities across global trading businesses.

RiskOne provides real-time and near real-time visibility into market risk exposures, risk limits, utilization, and breach management. The platform enables Risk Managers, Trading Desks, and Senior Management to monitor and manage risk throughout the trading day while supporting key regulatory, governance, and reporting requirements.

Our technology stack leverages modern cloud-native architecture and data platforms including:

We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer who is passionate about building resilient, scalable, high-performance applications in a fast-paced Capital Markets environment.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with Market Risk professionals, architects, data engineers, and technology leaders to deliver strategic risk management solutions that are critical to TD Securities' global trading operations.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design, develop, test, and support business-critical applications within the RiskOne platform.
  • Build scalable microservices and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Develop responsive user interfaces and dashboards using ReactJS.
  • Implement resilient cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure services.
  • Design and optimize data solutions using Azure SQL, Redis, and Databricks.
  • Participate in system architecture, technical design reviews, and platform modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Market Risk stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Support real-time risk calculation, breach monitoring, and risk analytics workflows.
  • Contribute to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and production support practices.
  • Drive technical excellence by promoting software engineering best practices, code quality, security, performance tuning, and automation.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, design reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Participate in production support rotations for critical trading and risk management applications. 

Required Skills 

  • Strong proficiency in Java development with experience building enterprise-scale applications.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL optimization, and data modeling principles.
  • Experience with cloud-native development and Azure services.
  • Experience working with distributed caching technologies such as Redis.
  • Experience with data engineering and analytics platforms such as Databricks.
  • Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture and messaging technologies such as Kafka.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
  • Proficiency with GitHub, GitHub Actions, Maven, Gradle, TeamCity, Jenkins, or equivalent tooling.
  • Strong understanding of testing frameworks, automated testing, and software quality engineering.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

 Nice to Have 

  • Experience in Capital Markets, Trading, Risk Management, or Financial Services.
  • Knowledge of market risk concepts including limits, utilization, VaR, sensitivities, and breach management.
  • Experience building real-time data processing solutions.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code and DevSecOps practices.
  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or other analytics and visualization platforms.
  • Experience with Python and data engineering frameworks.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of software development experience with a focus on Java-based enterprise applications.
  • 3+ years of experience building cloud-native solutions in Azure.
  • Strong experience with SQL databases and data-intensive applications.
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale, highly available applications in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including product owners, business analysts, architects, and operations teams.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
