What will you do?
This role Senior IT Business Analyst will work within an agile squad to support the analysis, design and delivery of technology and information management initiatives aligned with business and program objectives. In this role, you will balance business analysis and Scrum Master responsibilities by facilitating agile ceremonies, removing delivery impediments and driving continuous improvement to ensure effective and predictable outcomes. You will lead the elicitation and refinement of requirements, translating business needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria, while collaborating closely with stakeholders and technical teams to deliver solutions aligned with enterprise platforms, governance frameworks and ways of working. Success in this role requires a proactive, structured and collaborative approach, with strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to navigate ambiguity to support the successful delivery and adoption of IT initiatives across Aurecon.
This role will work closely with Delivery Owners / Project Managers, Portfolio Program Managers, IT Project Delivery Manager, Solution Designers and Architects, business stakeholders, offshore technical teams, vendor teams and other business analyst peers.

Agile Squad Responsibilities:
- Lead Scrum Master activities, facilitating ceremonies and driving agile best practices
- Monitor delivery performance and improve team efficiency
- Manage risks, issues, dependencies and impediments in collaboration with stakeholders
- Support backlog refinement and prioritisation aligned to program objectives
Business Analysis Responsibilities:
- Lead requirements elicitation and translate business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria
- Produce and maintain key documentation to support solution design and delivery
- Perform analysis (current state, gaps, impacts) to inform prioritisation and outcomes
- Generate data-driven insights to support decision-making
- Facilitate collaboration between business and technical stakeholders to ensure effective delivery
You will also need the following capabilities:
Qualifications (Required)
- 5+ years’ experience as an IT Business Analyst working in Agile delivery environments, with 2+ years’ experience performing Scrum Master responsibilities within agile squads
- Strong expertise in requirements elicitation, documentation, and end-to-end process analysis
- Proven ability to collaborate across regions, teams, and stakeholders including business, technical, and vendor groups
- Skilled in facilitating workshops and stakeholder discussions to drive alignment and clarity
- Ability to deliver clear status reporting, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior leadership
Essential Skills and experience
Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Advanced stakeholder engagement, including planning and facilitating workshops, eliciting and refining requirements, and presenting outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, structured and actionable outputs.
Data Analysis and Insights
- Perform data analysis, including transformation and mapping of complex data sets, to identify meaningful trends and insights across systems and processes.
- Translate findings into clear business requirements, actionable insights and informed recommendations to support decision-making, using tools such as Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen to interpret insights, assess cost–benefit impacts and support budgeting and resource allocation decisions.
Process Modelling & Tool Proficiency
- Experience in process modelling and documentation using tools such as Visio, Miro or Whiteboard.
- Proficiency in Atlassian Jira and Confluence for backlog management, documentation and agile delivery support.
Critical Thinking & Collaboration
- Active listening, strong analytical and problem-solving capability, able to navigate ambiguity and translate complex or incomplete information into actionable insights and prioritised requirements.
- Adaptable and resilient team player with strong time-management skills, balancing multiple workstreams in fast-paced, cross-functional environments while maintaining a proactive learning mindset.
