About the HomeCare Team

The Home Care team is looking to revolutionize the way that customers interact with Thumbtack. By better understanding our customers and their homes, personalizing suggestions and creating tailored guides for them, and making it easy to book and re-book pros, our goal is to create a long-term relationship with our customers. In short, we want to become your trusted advisor when it comes to all things home.

Challenge

Homeowners have a lot to get done and need crucial questions answered across their homeowner journey. Today, their sources of guidance are separate from where they go to take action. Our vision is to empower homeowners to be proactive in caring for their homes with guidance that grows with them from planning, to doing, to done. In a sea of information, what they need — and want most — is guidance that works for their home and situation.

To help us realize our vision, The team is building a brand new set of features, so we’re trying to balance making sure that we’re thinking ahead and not creating technical debt versus speed of execution. Since this is an entirely new area for Thumbtack, we’re making big bets as to what will be best for both the customer and Thumbtack.

Responsibilities

  • Drive iOS feature projects to completion, focusing on the business and customer impact of those projects
  • Break down large projects into concrete deliverables and milestones that make it easy to track progress
  • Work closely with back-end engineers, product managers, designers, data analysts, and other teams to gather feedback, prioritize projects, and deliver solutions
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders, proactively raising potential blockers and other risks
  • Explore new frameworks and processes while also being able to discuss when (or when not) to use them
  • Bring and share fresh ideas on iOS best practices and code standards
  • Participate in a culture that values thoughtful code reviews and frequent deployments

What you’ll need

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in iOS engineering
  • Experience building, testing, releasing, and maintaining apps written in Swift 
  • Proven track record of shipping consumer-facing apps that users love on the App Store
  • Work closely with product managers and designers to iterate on and define product scope and design
  • Have a strong sense of product ownership and actively seek responsibility. We often self-organize on medium to large projects and seek someone eager to build upon our foundation with their own vision, making a significant impact on the mobile team and Thumbtack as a whole
  • Above all, we seek exceptional engineers with a strong passion for iOS apps and a willingness to learn

Bonus points if you have 

  • Experience with libraries, frameworks, and services like SwiftUI, GraphQL, and/or Apollo
  • Full stack experience

For candidates living in San Francisco / Bay Area, New York City, or Seattle metros, the expected salary range for the role is currently $191,250 - $247,500. Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.

For candidates living in all other US locations, the expected salary range for this role is currently $162,562.50 - $210,375. Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
