Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as:

• Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

• Degree/Masters in a technical, science, engineering, or mathematical discipline (preferred but not essential)

• Proven experience in the build out of custom-built data integration solutions using Python, JSoN, Java or any other programming language.

• Participate in code reviews, ensure code quality, and identify areas for improvement to implement practical solutions.

• Debugging codes when required and troubleshooting any Python-related queries.

• Keep up to date with emerging trends and technologies in Python development.

• Excellent understanding on integration to and from Oracle EPM systems (including Essbase, PBCS, EPBCS, PCMCS and EPCM)

• Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  Additional knowledge of.

• EPM Applications with particular emphasis on Oracle Hyperion

• Scheduling tools e.g. Tivoli, Autosys and Abinitio Control Centre

• Big Data storage technologies, Cloudera and Spark

• Cloud based environments and integration between on-premise and cloud-based solutions

• Other programming experience such as Java, Javascript and Powershell used in a business context would be useful

• Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio

• Experience gained in financial services is preferred but not essential.
