About the company
Our client is a defense and space manufacturing company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the bringing together of complex hardware and the verification that it performs as intended before it ships, working across mechanical, electrical and software disciplines. Plan and automate verification work, build assembly tooling, and coach a junior colleague while helping establish the function as output grows.
What you'll do
- Lead system-level integration, checking that every subsystem fits and performs together as units move along the production line.
- Plan and run verification approaches that uncover problems while units are being built, serving as the last quality checkpoint ahead of delivery.
- Write and operate Python and LabVIEW scripts that automate test runs in simulated operating conditions.
- Create fixtures and tooling that allow complex mechanical assemblies to be handled and put together safely.
- Coach a junior engineer and help shape the integration and test team as manufacturing expands across multiple sites.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering.
- Background in a fast-moving startup or new-product setting rather than solely at long-established large organizations.
- Exposure to early-stage or low-volume builds of complex hardware rather than only mature, high-volume lines.
- Regular hands-on work assembling and integrating physical components.
- Python scripting for automated hardware testing.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to spot likely integration problems well ahead of final assembly.
- Ability to work on-site five days a week.
- Eligibility to meet export-control requirements (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee).
Bonus points
- Experience integrating munitions or energetic systems.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD for integration planning.
