Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to support the Executive Fleet program. Candidates should be comfortable working in a high pressure, fast paced environment. In this role you will have the opportunity to apply Industrial Engineering concepts to develop operating plans and recovery plans, conduct capacity and constraint-based analysis, develop and refine precedence networks, and conduct overall process effectiveness studies. You will also have opportunities to develop, implement, and improve processes focused on lowering costs and improving schedule performance and quality. Candidates must be able to operate within a multi-functional team, coordinating with various departments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops Operating plans and Recovery plans as needed.
- Develops models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operations research, trend and production impacts), and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, senior leadership, other departments, suppliers).
- Develops, implements, and improves processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts.
- Utilizes experience and expertise to determine technical objective of assignments defines, and controls the scope, cost, and timing of projects. Performs risk analysis using project management tools (e.g., work break-down structure, precedence network, and resource allocation).
- Provides support to complete various projects as needed.
- Uses engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulations, statistics) to support the development of optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment...) in the creation and validation of operating plan.
- Under general direction, analyzes and designs value streams, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, workflow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).
- Candidate must be able to interact with other employees to gather data for process improvements. This may include observing, documenting processes, and collecting data in manufacturing areas or on aircraft during various production phases.
- Schedules work plans, conducts data analysis (historical, trends and production impacts), staffing and process improvements.
This position will be 100% onsite at the San Antonio, TX location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
- Able to walk, stand, and enter aircraft via steps or ladders.
- 9+ years of experience with Project Planning, Scheduling, Project Management.
- 9+ years of experience as an Industrial Engineer or Production Engineer in a factory environment. Familiarity with Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Planning, engineering drawings and specifications, and lean concepts (certifications preferred).
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, SAS, VBA, SQL, Minitab
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited university.
- Aircraft / Aerospace industry experience.
- Experience with 3D Computer aided design tools such as IVT.
- Experience with Boeing standard scheduling tools such as Aurora.
- Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.
- 7+ years of experience conducting/leading Time studies and reporting out to leadership.
- Cost Account Management experience with applied Earned Value Management principles.
