As we continue to expand our partner ecosystem, we are looking for an experienced Senior Implementation Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring seamless onboarding and configuration of new partners onto our platform, while also driving process improvements and mentoring junior team members.

 

Role Overview

The Senior Implementation Engineer will lead complex partner onboarding and configuration projects, working across microservices, APIs, databases, and internal tools. You will be responsible for technical troubleshooting, automation, and process optimization, as well as providing technical guidance to the team. This role requires strong technical skills, leadership, and the ability to collaborate globally across time zones. You will also participate in off-hours and weekend on-call rotations to support partner uptime SLAs.

 

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Project Delivery

    • Lead the configuration and integration of new partners onto RTA’s platform, including API integrations, theming, branding, and economics configuration in the database.
    • Oversee and review system configurations across microservices, white-label platforms, Consul, and other tools to ensure quality and consistency.
    • Drive technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex onboarding and integration issues.

Automation & Tooling

    • Design and implement scripts and tools to automate onboarding, configuration, and support processes.
    • Contribute to and enhance internal tools (e.g., mocking tools, test frameworks) to improve team efficiency and reliability.

Collaboration & Communication

    • Collaborate globally with platform engineers, product teams, and stakeholders across different regions and time zones.
    • Communicate technical requirements, solutions, and best practices effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Act as a bridge between implementation and platform teams, validating and testing platform suggestions and changes.

Mentorship & Process Improvement

    • Mentor and support junior implementation engineers, providing technical guidance and sharing best practices.
    • Identify gaps in current processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance onboarding quality, speed, and partner satisfaction.

Support & Maintenance

    • Provide advanced post-onboarding support, addressing escalated configuration or integration issues.
    • Maintain and update documentation related to configurations, processes, and tools.
    • Ensure partner uptime SLAs are met by participating in off-hours and weekend on-call rotations, promptly resolving critical issues and minimizing downtime.

 

Qualifications

Technical Skills

    • Strong understanding of APIs, microservices architecture, and system integrations.
    • Advanced proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation, troubleshooting, and tool development.
    • Solid knowledge of databases (SQL) for configuration and data management.
    • Experience with tools like Consul, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
    • Ability to design, review, and improve technical solutions and processes.

Experience

    • 5+ years of experience in a technical role involving system configuration, integration, or implementation, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
    • Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in a fast-paced, global environment.
    • Experience mentoring or coaching junior engineers is highly desirable.

Soft Skills

    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across time zones and cultures.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead projects independently.

Preferred

    • Experience in the travel or e-commerce industry is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
    • Experience with process improvement or automation initiatives.

 There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, roles are eligible to be considered for an annual bonus. Potential benefits include a competitive retirement plan, medical/dental plans, and life insurance among others.   


The annual salary range for the local Chicago area is $115k to $145k, determined by a candidate's fit and experience.
