The Operations Engineer is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, administration, and support of Microsoft 365 services within the enterprise environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of Microsoft 365 platforms, including Exchange Hybrid and SharePoint Hybrid servers. The Operations Engineer will handle advanced escalations from Level 2 support teams, providing expert technical guidance and timely resolution of complex incidents and service requests. This position requires strong technical acumen, effective communication skills, and a commitment to operational excellence in a fast-paced, multi-account environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide expert-level support for Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Hybrid and SharePoint Hybrid environments
- Resolve escalations from Level 2 support teams, ensuring effective and timely resolution of advanced technical issues and service requests
- Perform regular maintenance, monitoring, and administration of Microsoft 365 and relevant on-premises systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime
- Participate in patching, upgrades, and capacity planning activities to maintain a secure and up-to-date environment
- Follow and contribute to operational best practices, documentation standards, and knowledge sharing within the team
- Collaborate with other IT teams, including Engineering, Security, Compliance, and Infrastructure, to ensure platforms meet business and regulatory requirements
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, leveraging tools such as PowerShell scripting
- Assist in reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) for service delivery and operational health
- Support system migrations and integration projects as needed.
- Provide technical leadership during incidents, outages, and critical changes, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews
- Full-time, exempt position with some on-call and after-hours responsibilities as required for critical incident response and system maintenance
- Reports to the Sr ManagerDirector of Collaboration

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience supporting Microsoft 365, Exchange (on-premises and hybrid), and SharePoint (on-premises and hybrid) environments
- Experience with incident management, ticket escalation processes, and troubleshooting complex technical issues
- Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting and automation in Microsoft 365 and Windows Server environments
- Proven solid communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Proven proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
- Proven solid customer service mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
- Proven ability to adapt to evolving technologies and changing business requirements
Preferred Qualification:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, MCSE: Productivity Solutions Expert)
