As a Senior HW Reliability Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring the reliability and long-term performance of Nokia Silicon Photonics products. You will support early product development and co-operate with product development teams by defining and analyzing reliability specifications while also evaluating products already in the field through failure rate, MTBF, useful life, and field data analysis.
In this role, you will collaborate with packaging development engineers, architects, designers, and other engineering stakeholders. You will drive reliability-related tasks, reporting, and recommendations through the process, helping teams identify risks, validate reliability models, and make design improvements based on data.
- Support Silicon Photonics component early development projects and engineers in product reliability topics.
- Interact with Silicon Photonics product/HW/SW architects and designers to develop and validate the applicable reliability models and provide design improvement recommendations.
- Analyze products predicted reliability data based on Bills of Material and products field reliability data.
- Define and implement reliability engineering processes for hardware development programs.
- Lead reliability planning, including tasks, schedules, and stakeholder alignment.
- Conduct reliability modeling and analysis, including MTBF/MTBCF predictions and risk assessments.
- Perform reliability verification, including testing and validation against requirements.
- Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for reliability-related issues.
- Collaborate with design, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure reliability requirements are met.
- Develop and maintain reliability documentation, including reliability plans, test reports, and lessons learned.

- Act as a technical mentor and contributor in cross-team reliability initiatives.
Must-have:
- 5-10 years of experience as a Reliability Engineer in electronic design, preferably telecommunications, including planning and execution
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Proven knowledge and ability to create Reliability modeling and Design Failure Model Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
- Strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles, including MTBF, MTBCF, ARR, and MRR.
- Experience with reliability modeling tools (e.g., Telcordia, Windchill QS, Sherlock).
- Solid understanding of hardware design, testing, and verification processes.
- Experience tracking/reporting metrics and gathering and analyzing data from various sources and producing test reports.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and solve complex technical problems.
- Experience working in a cross functional team/matrixed environment
- Strong knowledge of Silicon Photonics transceivers for Telecom and Datacom applications.
- Familiarity with derating analysis and thermal design guidelines.
