Get to Know the Team

The Growth Data Science team at Grab plays a critical role in growing user acquisition, engagement, retention, and reactivation across our ecosystem of services—from ride-hailing to food, logistics, and more. We blend data, experimentation, and use growth at scale. As a trusted advisor to marketing, product, and operations, our team turns data into applicable insights that shape Grab's growth strategy across Southeast Asia.

Get to Know the Role 

You will create growth insights and strategy by analyzing user behavior across services to uncover relevant insights for acquisition and retention strategies. It requires deep-diving into underperforming user segments to identify growth opportunities and collaborating with to shape data-driven growth plans. You will build analytical tools and reporting, enhancing main growth metrics. It includes designing growth experiments and developing machine learning models to predict user behavior and building the lifecycle of these models. Additionally, you will maintain data pipelines and optimizing data workflows to and scalability. You will report to the manager and work onsite in our Jakarta Office

 

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

Drive Growth Insights & Strategy

  • Analyze user behavior across Grab's services to uncover applicable insights that fuel acquisition, retention, and reactivation strategies
  • Deep-dive into underperforming user segments (e.g., churned, dormant, or low-frequency users) to identify causes and growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with partners across marketing, CRM, and product to shape data-driven growth plans and lifecycle interventions
  • Conduct business case analysis and post-mortems to evaluate the impact of strategic growth plans
  • Build Analytical Tools & Reporting
  • Define, monitor, and enhance user growth metrics
  • Develop dashboards and self-serve reporting tools to empower with reliable insights
  • Design scalable reporting frameworks that align with our needs and support performance tracking over time
  • Experimentation & Forecasting
  • Design growth experiments (e.g., A/B tests), interpret results, and translate findings into applicable recommendations
  • Develop machine learning models for growth use cases such as user retention prediction, reactivation likelihood scoring, and user volume forecasting
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of growth models—from development and validation to production and performance monitoring
  • Data Pipeline & Infrastructure
  • Develop scalable data pipelines to support analytics, modeling, and reporting use cases
  • Collaborate with data engineering and platform teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and reusability across systems
  • Optimize data workflows and tooling to improve efficiency, stability, and scalability

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Bachelor's or Masters, Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Science, Industrial / Systems Engineering, or Computer Science, with a specialisation in Machine Learning, User Behaviour or Optimization techniques
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant post-degree experience in n business analytics, growth analytics, or product analytics
  • Proficient in SQL; experience with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau
  • Really good to have:
    • Experience working with Digital/Mobile Marketplaces with Customer lifecycle data, geospatial and mobility data
    • Familiarity with Python or R for deeper data analysis
