- Provide guidance on regular inspections and preventive maintenance on all generators to ensure readiness for emergency use.
- Provide guidance on testing and monitoring of the performance of backup generators, including load testing, fuel system checks, exhaust systems, and battery charging systems.
- Develop and maintain plans for monitoring generator systems for any faults, deficiencies, or signs of wear and corrective action to be taken as necessary.
- Remotely diagnose and troubleshoot any issues with backup generators and related power systems during scheduled maintenance or emergency situations and communicate to the site team or local contractor steps to remediation.
- Respond promptly to power outages or failures, ensuring the smooth transition between primary and backup power sources and assist local teams as required.
- Utilize remote monitoring systems to track generator performance, fuel levels, and any critical alerts.
- Provide guidance on the need for detailed reports on system status, usage, and any maintenance actions taken to maintain data center uptime.
- Work closely with data center operations teams to ensure proper coordination during power tests, upgrades, and emergency response drills.
- Train other team members on proper generator operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
- Recommend and implement improvements to generator systems, including efficiency enhancements, capacity upgrades, or installation of newer technologies.
- Assist in preparing backup power systems for data center capacity growth or expansion projects.
- Provide guidance on the requirements to maintain accurate service records, log entries for repairs, inspections, and generator performance data.
- Provide guidance to ensure all work complies with local regulations, industry standards, and internal policies for data center operations.
- Work with the compliance team and local site teams to ensure that all certifications and warranties are kept up to date for generators and related equipment.
