We are seeking a Senior GCP Systems & Hybrid Infrastructure Engineer to manage our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) production tenant and hybrid DR connectivity.
This role is responsible for day-to-day GCP administration, infrastructure provisioning, and VM-level operating system management. The ideal candidate must possess deep administrative and patching capabilities across both Windows Server and Enterprise Linux (SLES/RHEL) environments.
You will serve as the core infrastructure coordinator—partnering closely with our SAP/DB2 Admin and our Local IT Team (Nutanix and Veeam admins) to ensure total service availability. You will also lead the enablement and training of our internal team over the next 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
1. GCP Environment & Dual-OS VM Administration
- Act as the primary administrator for our GCP organization, managing IAM policies, VPC networks, Cloud Firewalls, and storage.
- Manage, secure, monitor, and patch VM operating systems across both Windows Server and Enterprise Linux (RHEL/SLES) environments.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and storage performance for virtual machines hosting database and ERP workloads.
- Implement proactive cloud monitoring and alerting utilizing Google Cloud Operations Suite.
- Own and manage the cloud-side termination of our hybrid connectivity (Cloud VPN/Interconnect) back to our on-premises datacenter.
- Maintain network routes and firewall rules to secure DB2 HADR replication and Veeam backup traffic.
- Act as the technical lead during DR testing, ensuring seamless infrastructure-level failovers.
- Collaborate with the SAP/DB2 Administrator on OS resource allocation, kernel parameter tuning, and storage block layout on both Windows and Linux instances.
- Upskill the internal IT team through hands-on training and weekly shadowing sessions, ensuring they can confidently manage both Windows and Linux cloud instances by the end of the 1-year contract.
- Cloud Infrastructure: 3+ years of enterprise GCP Administration experience (compute, storage, and hybrid networking).
- Operating Systems: Deep, hands-on administration of both Windows Server and Enterprise Linux (SLES/RHEL), including automated OS-level patching, command-line operations, and scripting (Bash/PowerShell).
- Backup & DR: Solid understanding of hybrid backup replication patterns and enterprise restore workflows using Veeam.
Skills Required
- 3+ years enterprise GCP administration (compute, storage, hybrid networking)
- Deep hands-on administration of Windows Server and Enterprise Linux (RHEL/SLES), including automated OS-level patching
- Scripting and command-line automation with Bash and PowerShell
- Experience managing IAM, VPC networks, Cloud Firewalls, and storage in GCP
- Experience with Google Cloud Operations Suite (monitoring/alerting)
- Experience managing hybrid connectivity (Cloud VPN/Interconnect) and routing for DR
- Knowledge of DB2 HADR replication patterns and collaboration with SAP/DB2 admins
- Experience with Veeam backup and enterprise restore workflows
- On-site work in Saudi Arabia and target start ~30 days
- Ability to upskill and train internal IT team over a 12-month contract
