Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Private Credit Accountant to join out Private Wealth team. This role is critical in managing and overseeing accounting functions, valuation processes, and regulatory compliance for StepStone Private Wealth’s private credit portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in credit operations, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements while demonstrating exceptional organizational, analytical skills and ability to work closely with our finance and investment teams.
Essential Functions:This hands-on, detail-oriented position will:
- Oversee valuation processes, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial reporting.
- Conduct and oversee valuation methodology calculations for 10-Q filings and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and file 8-K and N-CSR reports, ensuring disclosure accuracy and consistency.
- Review NAV components, financial statements, close checklists, and provide oversight for Fact Card reviews.
- Manage tax accruals, dividend calculations, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate audit processes, board materials preparation, and operational presentations.
- Provide accounting oversight for transactions, interest, fees, and gains/losses.
- Conduct borrowing base reviews and prepare quarterly managerial assistance letters.
- Calculate and review dividends, including yield analysis, QII preparation, and 19A disclosures.
- Conduct SOX control reviews and engage in audit discussions with external advisors.
- Oversee subscription and share issuance processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Must possess a four-year college degree with a major in Accounting
- CPA or CFA designation preferred
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within private credit, asset management, or financial services
- Previous experience with Investment Company Accounting and ASC 820 (FAS 157) preferred
- Previous experience with private credit investments preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Excel experience
- Ability to multi-task and manage priorities against key deadlines
- Must be able to work independently, but contribute in a team-oriented environment
