A defense-tech startup, building an AI-powered autonomous systems that connect cameras, sensors, and natural-language interfaces, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer, to take full ownership of high-performance, low-latency backend systems, design scalable infrastructure, and help shape the core architecture of the platform in a hands-on, early-stage environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend services for real-time systems
- Develop data pipelines for video streams, camera networks, and AI outputs
- Own backend architecture (APIs, databases, infrastructure, observability)
- Build low-latency, high-performance distributed systems
- Work closely with ML, product, and infrastructure teams
- Maintain production infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD
- Improve system performance and reliability end-to-end
- 5+ years of backend / full-stack experience (backend-leaning)
- Strong experience with distributed systems and system design
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD
- Strong API design and database experience (e.g. PostgreSQL)
- Experience working in fast-paced, production environments
- Computer Science degree or equivalent
Nice to Have
- Python (FastAPI) experience
- Experience with real-time video / streaming systems
- AI/ML infrastructure, LLMs, or computer vision experience
- GPU / inference pipelines (e.g. NVIDIA DeepStream)
- Edge / on-prem deployments
- Defense-tech / robotics / autonomous systems background
- Early-stage startup experience (0→1)
Skills Required
- 5+ years of Full Stack engineering experience
- Strong skills in React, TypeScript, and modern front-end best practices
- Backend experience with Python (FastAPI) and PostgreSQL (or similar stacks)
