Senior Software Developer (Nodejs, TypeScript)

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

• Design and implement robust API layers (REST/GraphQL) with clear versioning, type safety, and strong contract designs for use by internal clients and external partners.
• Build and enhance event-driven systems by integrating with message streaming technologies (Kafka, Red Panda, NATS), handling asynchronous workflows and cross-service communication.
• Improve system observability by embedding observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, metrics, dashboards) and defining meaningful service-level objectives.
• Strengthen security and performance of backend components through hardening, monitoring, and optimisation best practices.
• Define and maintain CI/CD pipelines (linting, testing, container builds, deployments) that ensure high-quality backend delivery and rapid iteration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, DevOps, and client backend teams to align backend architecture with business goals and operational needs.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

• 5+ years building production-grade backend/cloud services with strong experience in Node.js and TypeScript (or equivalent backend tech).
• Demonstrated expertise in designing and building RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, with understanding of contracts, pagination, versioning, and type safety.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture, with hands-on experience integrating message brokers/streaming systems (Kafka, Red Panda, Redis Streams, NATS).
• Strong database skills — schema design, performance tuning, migrations, and query optimisation for relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL datastore(s).
• Experience with containerised environments, DevOps tooling, CI/CD automation, and observability best practices.
• Real-world experience applying security principles in backend services (authentication/authorization, OWASP, secrets management).
• Excellent communication and teamwork, with the ability to work effectively with frontend, DevOps, and product teams.
Nice-to-have
• Familiarity with backend patterns like CQRS/event sourcing, microservices, or serverless architectures.
• Knowledge in performance benchmarking, tracing, or reliability engineering.
• Previous work on low-code platforms, workflow engines, or integration platforms.
