About the roleWe are seeking a highly autonomous engineer excited about owning the design and implementation of core features and infrastructure. Given the size of the team, you will be touching all parts of the stack.
What You’ll DoBuild Intuitive Interfaces: Develop features across Node, React, and Postgres (TypeScript) so non-technical users can design AI automations with ease.
Explore Advanced AI: Contribute to projects involving LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI agents—from research/prototyping to full production releases.
Shape Core Architecture: Help refine our stack to handle growing data/usage needs, ensuring reliability and scalability.
Iterate with Product & Design: Work in a tight loop—prototype, gather feedback, and deliver high-impact features efficiently.
5+ years of professional software development, with proven track record in scaling complex applications.
Demonstrated startup experience—managing ambiguity, moving fast, wearing multiple hats.
BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
In NYC ~4–5 days/week for close collaboration on a fast-moving product.
Skilled in TypeScript, Node.js, React, relational databases (Postgres).
Deep understanding of distributed systems design and operation (queues, caching, consistency, large data pipelines).
Experience with information retrieval or recommendation systems (ranking/search at scale).
Applied AI engineering experience (e.g. evaluating AI models, orchestrating multi-LLM pipelines, advanced RAG).
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a curious, problem-solving mindset.
Systems-level thinking: balancing fast delivery with long-term maintainability.
Startup background or a proven ability to thrive in high-autonomy environments.
