The role

Infinite Reality is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a focus on full-stack development to join our Studio team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and enhancing our immersive web technology stack, contributing to iR Studio, our product transforming the ways in which people create and interact with immersive content.

You will work across the full stack - from building high-performance, interactive 3D applications with Three.js and React, to optimizing backend services using Node.js and MySQL. Your expertise will directly influence the performance, scalability, and quality of our immersive web experiences, helping to push the boundaries of what is possible within these environments.

In addition to hands-on development, you will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to define requirements, design solutions, and troubleshoot complex issues. Your role will involve mentoring junior engineers, improving our development processes, and driving the technical evolution of our systems to meet both current and future needs.

What you'll do

• Lead Full-Stack Development: Take ownership of both front-end and back-end development, building high-performance web applications with React, Three.js, Node.js, and MySQL. You'll be instrumental in ensuring seamless integration of interactive 3D graphics, dynamic UI elements, and scalable backend services that power immersive virtual experiences.
• Innovate with Graphics and Web Technologies: Drive the technical direction of immersive web experiences, pushing the boundaries of interactive graphics using technologies like WebGL, WebGPU, and OpenGL. Your work will help enhance the realism and performance of our digital environments.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with design, product, and engineering teams to define project requirements, architect robust solutions, and iterate on features. You'll ensure that both technical and user experience goals are met with every release.
• Optimize and Scale: Focus on improving the performance, scalability, and maintainability of both client-side and server-side applications. From optimizing web rendering to streamlining backend processes, you'll ensure that our applications perform seamlessly at scale.
• Mentor and Guide: Lead by example, providing mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers. Help elevate the team's capabilities by promoting best practices in software development, code quality, testing, and debugging.
• Contribute to Development Infrastructure: Play a key role in enhancing our CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and deployment workflows, ensuring a smooth and efficient development process for the team.
• Troubleshoot and Solve Complex Problems: Take a proactive approach to identifying, troubleshooting, and solving issues within the codebase. Whether it's debugging complex rendering issues or optimizing backend performance, you'll be instrumental in maintaining a high-quality codebase.

What you'll bring

• Extensive Full-Stack Development Experience: You bring 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack web development, with a deep understanding of both frontend (React, TypeScript, Three.js) and backend (Node.js, MySQL) technologies. Your experience allows you to design and implement end-to-end solutions that power immersive web and 3D applications.
• Graphics and Web Technology Expertise: You have a strong background in graphics programming, with experience using WebGL, WebGPU, and OpenGL to create high-performance, interactive 3D content. Your ability to optimize rendering and performance for complex web environments is key to delivering seamless digital experiences.
• DevOps and CI/CD Experience: You bring hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies, ensuring that development cycles are fast, efficient, and error-free. Your understanding of build systems and cloud services enables you to maintain smooth, scalable workflows.
• Database and Backend Architecture Skills: You have extensive experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL, and are skilled at designing and optimizing backend systems for scalability, reliability, and performance. Your backend knowledge ensures that the systems you build can handle both large volumes of data and high traffic.

We'll be extra pumped if you have

• Experience with Game Development Frameworks: Familiarity with game engines or game development frameworks (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine), data oriented design, entity component system architectures, or gaming-specific libraries such as C++ for building immersive 3D experiences.
• Knowledge of WebXR and Virtual/Augmented Reality: Experience building applications using WebXR, AR.js, or similar technologies to create immersive AR/VR experiences directly in web browsers.
• Cloud Infrastructure Expertise: Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for scaling web and 3D applications in the cloud, including experience with cloud security best practices and serverless architectures.
• Experience with WebAssembly: Knowledge of WebAssembly to run high-performance code in the browser, particularly for graphics-heavy applications or game engines that require performance optimization beyond JavaScript.
• Real-Time Data Processing: Experience working with real-time data streams and WebSockets to build interactive, real-time applications, especially for multiplayer or collaborative experiences.
• UI/UX Design Sensibility: A strong understanding of user experience and UI design principles, especially when building interactive, graphics-heavy web applications, to ensure an intuitive and engaging user interface.
• Familiarity with Microservices Architecture: Experience designing, building, and maintaining microservices in distributed systems, particularly in relation to backend services for high-traffic, high-performance web applications.
• Containerization and Orchestration Skills: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container orchestration tools for deploying and managing scalable applications across cloud environments.
• 3D Modeling or Animation Experience: Exposure to 3D modeling or animation software (e.g., Blender, Maya) or knowledge of pipeline integration for 3D assets, enabling collaboration with design teams on asset management and rendering optimization.
• Experience with GraphQL: Familiarity with GraphQL for building flexible, efficient APIs, and improving data fetching performance in web applications.
• Performance Profiling & Optimization: Expertise in profiling and optimizing performance for both frontend and backend, particularly for graphics-heavy applications or large-scale web platforms.
• Familiarity with Blockchain/Decentralized Technologies: Understanding of blockchain technologies, NFTs, or decentralized web standards, and how they may apply to immersive virtual environments or digital asset ownership.
• Open-Source Contributions: A track record of contributing to open-source projects, particularly in web or graphics-related technologies, showing a commitment to the broader developer community.
