Role Summary
We're building npiQ, a healthcare data platform that helps pharmaceutical and medical device companies identify and engage Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in the healthcare space. We're looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to own critical parts of our data-intensive platform - from our multi-dimensional scoring algorithms processing millions of provider records to the real-time search interface that makes it all accessible.
You'll work on complex technical challenges: orchestrating ETL workflows that integrate clinical and non-clinical data; optimizing database queries across millions of records; and building features that turn massive datasets into actionable insights. This is a role where you'll balance sophisticated backend data processing with polished, modern frontend user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Build full-stack features across our Next.js application, tRPC API layer, and Temporal workflow orchestration system
- Design and optimize data-intensive pipelines that process healthcare provider data from dozens of different sources
- Implement complex algorithms backed by rigorous mathematical and statistical reasoning
- Optimize database performance and query patterns across millions of records
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex healthcare data problems into elegant technical solutions
- Own features end-to-end: from database schema design through API implementation to UI polish
- Review code, mentor other engineers, and establish patterns that scale as the team grows
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years building non-trivial production web applications with modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- Strong full-stack experience: comfortable writing complex SQL queries, designing APIs, and building responsive UIs
- Experience with data-intensive applications - Query optimization, indexing strategies, working with large datasets, performance benchmarking
- Track record of making pragmatic architectural decisions and owning significant technical projects
- Ability to understand complex domain logic (you don't need healthcare experience, but you should be comfortable learning specialized domains)
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces
- Passion for writing maintainable code and improving systems incrementally
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with our stack: Next.js, TypeScript, React, tRPC, Prisma ORM, MySQL, Temporal workflows
- Background in healthcare technology, data platforms, or analytics products
- Experience designing and implementing scoring/ranking algorithms or recommendation systems
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Temporal, Airflow, Dagster)
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary: ~$140,000-$160,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
- Flexible, fully remote work environment (Pacific Time core hours required).
- Health benefits, PTO, and professional development opportunities.
- Engineering-first culture where you’ll shape both product and technical direction.
- Opportunity to grow quickly in a small, ambitious team building trusted industry platforms.
