About HouseFacts
HouseFacts is building the system of record for the home. We give homeowners a clear, trustworthy picture of their property and connect them with the partners who help maintain it. We are an early-stage team, which means the work you do ships fast and matters immediately.
The role
You will build across our stack: a Python and FastAPI backend on Google Cloud with PostgreSQL, a Vue, Nuxt, and TypeScript web app on Firebase, and a native Swift iOS app, all sharing one API. You will own features end to end, from schema to endpoint to UI, and you will work directly with our Head of Technology, an engineer with 30 years of experience building and scaling products.
We are an AI-forward engineering team. We use agentic coding tools daily and expect you to be comfortable directing them, reviewing their output critically, and knowing when to write the code yourself. Leverage matters more than lines typed.
What you will do
- Design and ship features across backend, web, and mobile
- Build and evolve REST APIs in FastAPI serving both web and iOS clients
- Model data thoughtfully in PostgreSQL and keep it fast as we grow
- Contribute to our Vue and Nuxt front end and our native Swift app
- Integrate third-party platforms including Stripe, Firebase, and Google Cloud services
- Shape engineering practices on a small team where your opinion carries weight
What we are looking for
- 5+ years building production web applications, with senior-level ownership of at least one significant system
- Strong Python backend experience; FastAPI or similar async framework preferred
- Solid PostgreSQL fundamentals, including schema design and query performance
- Experience with a modern front end framework; Vue, Nuxt, and TypeScript experience is a plus
- Swift or native iOS experience is a plus, or genuine willingness to work in it
- Fluency with AI-assisted development workflows and sound judgment about their output
- Comfort with startup ambiguity: small team, broad scope, shifting priorities
Nice to have
- Firebase Auth, Firestore, or Firebase Hosting
- Google Cloud Platform operations experience
- Payments or marketplace integration experience, especially Stripe Connect
- Proptech, real estate, insurance, or home services domain exposure
