Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators.

At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.

A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

WHY SAFETY?

At Roblox, we strive to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and the Safety organization's mission is to become the leader in civil immersive online communities. We systematically and proactively detect, remove, and prevent problematic content and behavior, and we make Roblox accounts secure and free from compromise. We cover a broad area of the tech spectrum, including machine learning, classifiers for 3D models, experimentation, automation, detection workflows, and AI-powered text filters. Aligned and partnering with product teams, we use this toolbelt to discover new opportunities, influence and shape the product roadmap and prioritization, build safety products, and measure the impact on our community of users and developers. In doing so, we keep Roblox safe, civil, and inclusive, and we foster positive relationships between people around the world.

Why Education & Reform Team?

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Education & Reform team, you will be responsible for helping drive a large greenfield education and transparency problem space, leading 2-3 frontend / full-stack engineers.  You will collaborate closely with product managers, and sometimes wear a product hat yourself, while building innovative and modern UIs for behavioral interventions, consequences, education, and transparency.  You will be a core part of applying UX research and behavioral science to reduce long-term recidivism and make Roblox a safe platform for all users.  You will work on many critical end-user journeys, and you will feel a true sense of ownership and responsibility in thoughtfully and fairly protecting our users, while carefully balancing freedom and civility.

You Will:

  • Build modern, responsive, and effective UIs across all client surfaces (web, desktop, mobile, console, VR) for delivering interventions and consequences to users, including warnings, nudges, timeouts, account bans, and education.
  • Work on a large greenfield effort to increase trust, transparency, and education in Roblox’s moderation.
  • Work with a tightly-knit, high-performing, diverse, and energetic cross-functional product engineering team with a strong sense of camaraderie.
  • Mentor junior engineers to develop their skills, and abilities.

You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience in software development.
  • React/React Native experience or familiarity with UI frameworks that deploy to multiple consumer devices such as iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, and gaming consoles.
  • A strong product sense.
  • BA/BS (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or another technical field.
  • Curiosity to learn new technologies and systematically grow your skills.

You Are:

  • Experienced: You have experience as a front-end engineer working on complex user interfaces.
  • Fascinated by UX: You love to build delightful and productive user experiences. You care about the little details that no one notices are there.
  • Analytical: You love to understand how your users work with your interface and use the findings to maximize their impact.
  • Product-minded: You have strong intuition for what makes a good product.
  • Versatile: You can shift focus and enjoy working outside your comfort zone.
  • Team-player: You work with and inspire others around you, leading projects for the greater team.
